Agonist vs Dopamine
Being recently diagnosed with PD ( June 2019 ), I am confused. My first Neurologist prescribed Sinemet. 1 pill 2 x per day, upping this dosage after 2 weeks to 2 pills twice a day. I noticed a " fog clearing " after the first night. Encouraging. We sought a second opinion because of difficulties

Leg Cramps when taking Sinemet
My husband has had Parkinson’s disease for 10 years. He gets terrible cramps in his upper legs when he takes Sinemet. Has anyone found an alternative to Sinemet or something else to stop the pain? I read a post that mentions Mucuna Pruriens. Has anyone tried it ? If so, what would be the equivalent dosage

Does novacaine interact badly with Parkinson's drugs ? I need dental work done..
I currently take Sinemet, gabapentin and clonopin on a daily basis. Please post any side effects experienced when mixing novacaine with these drugs. I propose to take extra gabapentin and clonopin for the procedure so as not to move about, plus whatever novacaine the dentist uses. I will ask the dentist

What helps
So Sinemet helps but not for me. U-tube videos by neuros all say exercise helps. Right now it's 20 degrees and snowing sideways. I can't see my neighbor's house. Before getting sick I was an ultra runner. Ultras are anything longer than a marathon. My favorite distance was 50 mile races. So

Atypical PD
I just watched a long video on the subject of atypical Parkinsonism. One sign is that tremor doesn't respond well to sinemet. Of the diseases that mimic PD, it's a short list but all of them are lethal and preceded by dementia. Yikes! [i] I thought I had atypical PD because I don't have signs like

More from Gods notebook...
4.6. Twice as effective We have seen that the Mucuna seed extract naturally contains levodopa. If we quantify and compare it to the same dose of synthetic levodopa contained in tablets of Sinemet (or Madopar), we find that levodopa from Mucuna is approximately twice as powerful in controlling parkinsonian

Starting on B1
We started with 1g of thiamine per day for my husband. 500 mg before breakfast and 500mg before lunch since 5 days. We have not noticed any improvements yet but the only symptom we found to be on the little worst is his speech. ( increased slurred and stammering ). He had speech issues prior

Sinimet always help everyone?
Pretty sure I have Parkinson’s but was masked with having essential tremor my whole life. Then I had lymes I was in bed for about a year till I finally found Some solutions for that. Now I have all the very classic symptoms of Parkinson’s and keep getting worse. I tried sinemet but not much

Mood and sinemet?
Two years ago I was diagnosed with MS, PD and APS all together. Since then I've been in a bad mood basically every day, all day. My staff say my mood was much better while I was on sinemet. I didn't think so and didn't see any change in my dominant hand tremor. But maybe I was wrong. Does mood improvement

New Diagnosis,
Age 73, recent diagnosis. Started Sinemet three weeks ago 25/103 times a day. Some improvement in the symptoms but side effects of lightheadedness, mild malaise and now diarrhea make me question whether to continue or ask for a change in medication. Thoughts?

Grape fruit juice
Hello everyone, My husband started today with 100ml of grape fruit juice first thing in the morning and had his sinemet 10 min later. It started to effect within 15min and lasted for only about an hour whereas it usually lasts for about 2 hrs. I suppose the grape fruit juice is to increase the effect

Pulling the plug ☹️
My husband has been diagnosed for 13 years. He takes spirocco 20mg , Xadago 10mg and stelevo 125 at 6 am. Then Stelevo 125 every 3 hours during the day . He is generally good through the the day ( golf, gym, running) but every day between 7.30-8pm he stops completely. I have to help him out of the chair
