How much munica is recommended without taking sinemet? Thank you

That is impossible to say. Depends on severity of symptoms, among other things. We just started low and worked upward until symptoms were controlled. It’s not easy to take since all cops can make one experience nausea. Doubt that anyone else will do it but I filled largest size clear caps and my husband took 12 at a time about every four hours. Eventually he had to go on Sinemet but Macuna worked for about two years. I know there are caps but at the time, macuna wasn’t readily available and we had to order from India...it only came in powder form.

BTW, a compounding pharmacist has the equipment to fill caps in minutes and can add an anti nausea substance if needed but they are forbidden by the feds to fill caps using patients own substance. I can understand they are trying to control drugs but that makes it really hard for the rest of us. I got so I could just fill them while watching tv😎.

It depends on how far the PD has progressed. I was taking two grams of 40% L-dopa mucuna three times a day (every five and a half hours upon getting up in the morning), but now I am taking three grams, three times a day.

I get mucuna from Swanson's, and it's said to be 15% L-Dopa, thus a 350 mg cap would contain 52.5 mg of L-Dopa. I use this rounded to 50 mg/cap to sub for all but 1-25/100 mg of generic Sinemet/dose, but that's just for me. One should do their own math, and use caution...with professional supervision.
