Avoid levodopa phobia
I was reading Simon’s latest article about the PD drug development pipeline, which is a good read anyway - https://scienceofparkinsons.com/2020/12/02/drug-pipeline/ - and watched this video from Dr Kelly Mills of Johns Hopkins University about disease-modifying vs symptomatic therapy - https://youtu.be

How does everyone differentiate between RLS symptoms, vs. augmentation from one of your meds vs. withdrawal symptoms
I have been dealing with RLS for 20 years and the past year has been by far the worst with significant escalation of the disease. I have experienced augmentation from Mirapex and then severe withdrawal due to very bad advice from my neurologist. I was then put onto Neupro patches at 2mg and a week

RLS has now led to RAS
Thanksgiving week I experienced Restless Arm Syndrome for the first time. Actually, when my former neurologist took me off of Mirapex abruptly in June of this year I did have terrible spasms in my arms that led me to clenching my hands while my arms twisted and bent at the elbow but then once I got

Lions mane and sinemet
I saw a coffee creamer by rising Tide that had lions mane in it. I asked my neurologist if it was OK to take it while I’m on cinema. He said he had no knowledge of the product meaning the mushroom. So I was wondering if any of you know if there are any drug interactions between the two. Thank you.

Oral mandibular dystonia?
I have been experiencing this lately and it is only “active “ when my sinemet kicks in in and for a short period of time after. Very frustrating, it makes my speech difficult to understand and speaking is hard. I don’t want to do Botox, which seems to be one of the treatments to be considered. Anyone

How might sinemet affect the mind?
Lately my brain seems un-fogged. At night I dream I'm still working., seeing patients, diagnosing conditions and doing surgeries. This morning I woke up wondering why I'm wasting so much of my day. This is retirement but I'm sick of it. Every day I get up, have coffee then spend 2-3 hours

Anyone else taking Ongentys?
My dosage was one 50/200 mg
Sinemet
ER (Extended Release) and one 25/100
CR
(Continuous Release) every three hours. I also was taking two Selegiline 5 mg daily. I was wearing off in 2 hours. If i waited till my next 3 hour dosing time, it would take another hour to kick in.

When is a side effect not a side effect?
The NHS give the definition of "side effects" as "Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medical treatment." See: https://www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/medicines/what-are-side-effects/ So far, so reasonable. But, what does the definition mean in practice? I was searching for an answer

Why can't I drive if sinemet is helping the symptoms?
Had a 3-month checkup today. Both doctors say I'm improved in the arm rigidity. Because of tremor I mentioned Stedi-One. She responded, "Internet?" When I said yes they both rolled their eyes. She said we can try Botox injections in my arm and wrist. I go back for PT next month. Botox

Rytary questions
HI. Diagnosed 13 years ago, I’ve progressed slowly. I have kept active, attended to exercise, diet, used sinemet not agonists (because the latter didn’t seem to work). However, now sinemet ‘offs’ are too strong and frequent to deal with easily. I’ve been taking Sinemet 25-100 tablets for about 10 years

What's this about Sinemet being addictive?
I'm up to Sinemet 25--100 1.5 tabs three times a day. During the exam last month the neuro saw signs of PD but mild enough I never noticed them. So if I'm improving I can't tell. Every day I spend 2-3 hours on the treadmill walking at various inclines. Because of a weak back I've been

Initial Sinemet Dose
With the hope of maintaining my exercise routine, I have begun taking 25/100 sinemet. I was diagnosed in May, 2018, and my symptoms began approximately 6 months before that. My neurologist told me to begin with 1/2 pill the first week three times per day. If that isn't sufficient, increase to a full

Open mouth breathing
My husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's 3+ years ago. He's done well with the regimen of Sinemet. I've noticed in the few weeks his breathing is pretty much all done through open mouth . I'm his personal trainer too and when we walk or exercise, he breathes in through his nose and out through

Any history of jaw snapping in RLS?
Hi everyone, I am new here, from New Zealand and am newly disposed with RLS. As an RN I suspected but its only 5 months ago with my new partner that I found out that I am moving around, kicking, and basically behaving weirdly in my sleep. He has shown me in some videos, its astounding. I have been

Sinemet and Mucuna
Is anyone dosing with a combination of Sinemet and Barlowe's Mucuna Pruriens and how do you manage them? I am trying to cut down on c/l intake and take the more "natural" mucuna.
