Is this usual?
Hi everyone, as stated before l have mild copd, mild bronchiectasis and multiple lung nodules. I don't really have symptoms yet thankfully. However, sometimes when l exercise it feels like my lungs contract, (like a someone crumpling a tissue), sorry if that is a bad description. During these episodes

Lung Cancer or Asthma
Hi there, I am new here. I am writing this post as I had this problem about months ago. 3 months ago, I developed a wheezing after doing Tabata training. I went to a GP and she, listened to my lungs and she said there is an infection so she gave me Clarithromycin 250 mg antibiotics and 5 days steroid

Problems after Phomonia and Pleurisy
Hi all I am a 61 woman who up until three years ago i would say was quite fit. I then contracted Phumonia and Pleurisy and my lung became 3/4 full of fluid that became septic due to a delayed diagnosis of several months. The fluid was removed over a few days in hospital. Over the following two years

COPD OR ASTHMA?
Hi I'm new to this so hope I'm posting in the right place! I've had a couple of really terrible chest infections with nasty coughs. GP did a lung function test and said I have the lungs of a 74 year old (I'm 50) as the results were 'borderline' I'm recording peak flow readings for 2 weeks and then

Blue Inhaler (salbutamol)
Hi everyone yesterday someone called PMR pete said an interesting comment that got me thinking. You can only have 8 puffs of salbutamol in 24 hour period. This is not true as I did explain but it just shows how we are all told very different information from our professionals. On the Asthma UK asthma

Change of Medicine
Hi everyone wonder if anyone has any advice what I should do. I have COPD and been taking Spiriva 18 mg capsules together with Salbutamol for around 2 years. No problems with either and am used to them. I have just collected my 2 month repeat prescription and see that they have given me Braltus tiotropium

LABA Question
As most of you know, a LABA (Long Acting Beta Agonist) is a drug you find in many Duel Inhalers which - just like Salbutamol (in a Blue 'Rescue' Inhaler) opens your airways, but, typically, keeps them open for 10 to 12 Hours, rather than the '4 to 6 Hours' relief you usually get from the more powerful

Shortness of breath?
My RA is still active since I just was diagnosed over the summer and have only been on Leflunomide about 6 weeks. I’ve been having shortness of breath this last week. It feels like I’m not taking deep enough breaths, when I’m just sitting there. I then breath deep. It doesn’t hurt and I’m fine but

No where to turn
Hello, I've been on this site just reading posts for a long time now. I've never posted anything as I have so many issues and don't know how or where to begin. Lately I've felt so horrible that I honestly feel like giving up. I have absolutely no quality of life and don't want to suffer any longer. I'll

Lungs are burning
I have cough-variant asthma, but I have developed another symptom: burning lungs. I can't figure out the 'trigger' or pattern. I thought it was cold air, but it happens mid summer as well. My lungs burn so bad, if I didn't know better, I'd think I was having some sort of heart problem. I just have to

Itch inside chest
Still trying to sort out what happened to me last April. I spent a month being miserable after participating in a protest march. The inside of my chest itched. The itch was similar in intensity and quality to the feel of poison oak or poison ivy on skin. Every inhalation and every exhalation drove me

Confusing advice
Hi! Since my first experience ever of ending up in hospital for some days with an asthma attack 15 months ago, I have been really in good form. Sore chest upon exercise
I was diagnosed with asthma May last year. I am on symbicort SMART regime 200/6 2 in the morning and 2 at night. I am on the SMART regime as the GP felt that more appropriate as I had pneumonia 3 times last year. I have salbutamol for dire emergencies. I've never had an asthma attack and although I have

Salbutamol gives me the jitters!
Hi, I have mild asthma which only tends to trouble me when I have a chesty cold, and one or two other circumstances. I'm just recovering from a virus and it's set my asthma off, so I've been using my Salbutamol inhaler quite regularly over the past week. Today and yesterday I've started t feel very weak

Asthma?
Hi My recent spirometer test improved a lot after I had been given the inhaler salbutamol. On the fast breathing out I had to get to 70. I got consistently to 69. My consultant says I have asthma? I have been taking Fostair and don't seem to need anything else , my breathing seems fine. I just wonder

Saline Inhalation
Hi, I have been asked to consider hypertonic saline in-between my twice daily salbutamol and gentamicin nebuliser. I am sure it would help with thick sputum clearance but i have had swollen ankles for about 15 years for which i take bendroflumethiazide but this does not make the swelling disappear. I
