Advice needed on asthma change
Hopefully some of you who read this may be able to help me (and if not anyone can maybe learn from my story); I have had asthma all my life; I had been using two (inhaler) puffs 2 at night and 2 in the morning of the inhaler Beclomethasone, Early in 2009 I was dismayed when the Beclomethasone was discontinued

New and trying to learn
I've just started getting asthma, at 48, and I'm still trying to learn how I will need to manage it. I've learned a lot from reading here, but one thing I've seen is how different individuals are. So far my asthma hasn't been bad - my PEF has been 500-550 (I'm female and 5' 2"") and doesn't seem to

Hello, fairly newly diagnosed, bit confused
I was given
Beclometasone
to use twice a day, and
salbutamol
to use four times a day until the coughing reduced.

Do I have asthma? Help please.
I have suffered with allergic rhinitis and the usual allergies (pets, dust mites, chemical products) since I was 5-6 (I'm 31 now). In the last few years I have been having flu-like symptoms where my heart races, my throat swells and I can't swallow, I feel weak and achey, I struggle for breath, am hot

Bricanyl MDI
HiI know on the old site there was a thread about this and the withdrawal (if that is a word!) of it. I am confused because I went to see my consultant last Thursday and she prescribed bricanyl MDI to me for the first time instead of salbutamol. She did this because I get really bad shakes with the salbutamol

How do you know when to go to the doctor?
Okay let me start off by giving a bit of background information. I was diagnosed a couple of years ago, I'm generally mild and exercise induced, I only use salbutamol and antihistamines as far as medication for asthma. The nurse keeps saying we might put you onto a steroid inhaler but we'll see. So my

Beclometasone preventer inhaler and side effects
Hi Everyone Has anyone noticed any side-effects using Beclometasone 100 inhaler. I take 2 puffs in the morning and two puffs in the evening. My asthma seems to be getting better slowly, after 8 weeks. The doctor increased my dosage of beclometasone two days ago to the 2 puffs in the morning and 2 puffs

Asthma control over Christmas
This is going to be a long post so please bear with me. My asthma's been pretty unpredictable since the weather turned colder, twice daily peak flows look great, but I keep having sudden attacks which take a lot of salbutamol to bring under control. I went to the doctors last week and had my Seretide

Self-inflicted suffering
I did the 10k RNLI reindeer run at knowsley safari park this morning. It was great fun but i'm feeling it now. I was fine for over 6k but then it sort of hit me in both my legs and chest! I could see the 7k marker but just couldn't keep going. I stopped running and walked for a while and also took my

Scared, confused and in need to help
Hi I was wondering if anyone has any advice for me. In November I had a weird reaction after eating some Japense meso paste which was put down to an allergic reaction. After this I had several reactions that involved feeling itchy and have a weird sensation about me that I knew something bad was about

Salmeterol - had side effects
Just came back from the docs. He prescribed Salmeterol last Friday, but by Sunday I was having worse attacks, dizzines and nausea, so went back today. He took me straight off it. These are rare side effects (less than 1 in 10000 people experience them apparently). I'm now on a doubled up dose of Beclometasone
