At my last consultants apt a couple of weeks ago I was given steroids to have through my nebuliser twice a day (in addition to fostair, qvar and oral steroids) he said whilst I was there I may as well have the salbutamol and ipatropium at those times as well (instead of using them as needed).
So they definitely seem to be making a difference (however I was injected with a long acting steroid whilst I was there so it could be either or I guess) but I feel like I am always shaking, fast heart beat and all that jazz plus my anxiety has shot through the roof. I know this is common side effect of salbutamol but I am finding them a little difficult to cope with as time goes on and it’s not calming down. I mean it’s nice not sounding like a broken boiler quite as much as I did before but but it’s getting a little much. I know I am definitely not thinking straight much of the time.
I have spoken to my gp about this and he’s reluctant to change anything my consultant has put in place. My next apt is in January so it’s a long shot but I was just wondering if anyone has found a way to lessen these side effects?
I hope you all have a great Christmas

Hi sorry to hear you are very unstable at the moment. I don't know how much fostair you are taking but I was given this as a reliever and a preventer up to 12 times a day and ended up in a mess. I don't read side effects I just take what is offered and hope it helps. Fostair helped breathing and cough for about 10 months but the side effects were debilitating. Sleeplessness, palpitations, thrush, dry eyes but the worst was the shaking, tremors at first then so bad I couldn't hold a cup or a knife and fork, swallowing became difficult.
Researched fostair and spoke to GP etc but all were reluctant to help. Rang Asthma UK they were fab!. Now taking Relvar, sabutamol and salbutamol neb's if needed for past 3 week's. Chest not the best but side effects less. My GP told me I was the 3rd person he had seen in a week for the effects of fostair. Worth mentioning it to someone who will listen. Take care of you, not having the best time are you. Best wishes to you and yours.😊
Thank you, I’ve been on fostair for a couple of years 9 puffs a day. I absolutely hate it because no it gives me so many side effects but they don’t seem to be as bad as yours so I should be grateful for sure. I feel like it completely destroys my mouth even through a spacer.
I hope your chest allowed you to have a good Christmas x
I know the feeling. It will be the Salbutamol and Ipatropium nebs. They have much the same effect on me. However, like other reply it is best to carry on with them. If I have to take them as per consultant I try to space them out as much as possible. I am generally allowed to cut down on them if I am getting much better, but generally with consent of doctors.
My only recommendation is to eat as much chocolate as possible, and have some christmas cheer.
