Actemra and thrush.
I had developed thrush from prednisone and went on nystatin after I became aware of what I had. The Actemra was added two months ago and the thrush is worse. Anyone dealing with this? I’m putting a call in today to my doc and thinking I need to stop the Actemra. I also have CVID and have not gone

Leveled out - My Actemra story continues
Hi everyone! As you can tell from my salutation I am feeling much better. I believe I have finally leveled out (thanks to all of you) at 6mg. I feel almost normal but do get reminders occasionally that PMR is still lurking in the background. Two weeks ago my son came home from college with Mono. He was

Actemra and PMR
Actemra has been a lifesaver for me and my GCA. It has enabled me to dose down the prednisone and still heal the GCA symptoms. However, as I dose down prednisone, the PMR pain is back. So, unless I stay on the strictest diet, PMR keeps me disabled. I’m wondering if the Actemra will eventually kick

Tracking, focusing issues
I have had PMR for almost 4 years. Down to 4m with the help of Actemra. First time ever I had a problem focusing or tracking the reading of a phone number. Same problem now, tonight. Almost feels similar to when you have looked for a moment at the bright sun, then have to re-focus. Don’t notice any visuals

Change Health Care to get Actemra?
I have been a patient at Kaiser for 28 years. I have had no complaints to speak of. Easy access to treatment. Easy communication with my doctors. Not necessarily state of the art,I but evidence based approached to treatment. I have had botox for neck problems that have been wonderful. I get reimbursed

Prednisone Taper
Hello. This is my first post. In late June I spent a week in the hospital with fatigue, muscle ache and night sweats. I was diagnosed with GCA and PMR, put on 80 mg/day of Prednisone and discharged to the care of a Rheumatologist. The autoimmune symptoms subsided quickly, and my blood tests have returned

Actemra Use
I have had ups and downs with prednisone in the 31/2 years since I started with PMR and then GCA. The doctor put me on Methotexrate about 2 years ago and tried to take me off of prednison entirely. It was a disaster, but she said that the Methotextrate was less damaging than prednisone. I had headaches

The damage unchecked PMR can do........
My MRA scan result shows what appears to be stenosis in my Aorta. That is a narrowing of the Aortic Valve. Caused by inflammatory Vasculitis. This is damage that we take Prednisalone to prevent, as well as to feel better. I don't know much more than this yet, the Rheumatology Registrar just phoned. I

I get angina attacks. On 25mgs Prednisone and have had third Actemra shot . I should get an angiogram. Anyone here that can share that experience that had PMRGCA? I have to use nitroglycerin and I'm 73. Thinking that when inflammation is under control I won't get these attacks. I eat fat free and

Any Actemra experience?
Hi all, thanks for the info, support and chuckles on this forum. It has been invaluable! I am 58 years young and had PMR for 6 years, going along nicely on 4-5 mg when got diagnosed in May with GCA. Over 5 months tapered to 20mg and am now in the middle of another flare (a doozy!). Saw rheumie Friday

My journey continues
Hi everyone, Had my monthly appointment with my rheumatologist yesterday. She said I absolutely need a flu shot and said I may or may not feel a bit flu-y. I hope not because all week I felt like I was on the edge of a flair. The weather being so crappy all week didn’t help. I dropped 1/2 mg last

Any have dizziness/light headedness?
I have had GCA for 1 1/2 years. And from the USA and on the actemra infusions monthly...my dosage is 386 a month. In 1 1/2 years I have found only one other person who has GCA so when I found this group they was a real blessing. I'm wondering if anyone else experiences a fair amount of light headedness

Actemra and Prednisone and next reduction
So after 6 shots of Actemra down to 12.5 with an ESR of 5 and CRP of 1. For me it's a miracle. Been on each reduction 2 weeks. Following protocol. Love when New Rhuemy says "12.5 what do you think"? Eye here's the rub (think that's English expression) if blood ok next reduction is to 10 which is more

Treatment of Systemic Onset JIA with Actemra (Tocilizumab)
My 2 year old Son was diagnosed with Systemic onset JIA on in June 2017. Though the symptoms started few days before diagnosis, pediatric rheumatologist started treatment of SoJIA after ruling out septic arthritis. NSAID - 2 weeks Predinsolone - 4 weeks ( 2mg/kg/day) - Now in tapering

Taper Update
Hi everyone ! Just a quick update. I'm feeling great these days. I successfully tapered to 6MGs (dropped 1/2mg) and have continued my weekly Actemra shots. Here's an interesting question and observation. The year before I was diagnosed with PMR my nails were a mess. Splitting, ridges and very thin.

I need help deciding:
I was diagnosed with PMR last Dec. and am currently on 9.5 mgs (day 1). I live in the USA and am on a Medicare Advantage Plan through my former employer, Kaiser Permanente an HMO. I've been with Kaiser for almost 30 years and have had no real complaints. But if I'm going to maximize the possibility
