We have seen the Heptologist
He is putting him on to
Rifaximin
and wants him to reduce the amount of Lactulose. If the
Rifaximin
doesn’t have the required effect then he will be referring him to the team at Cambridge. As we drove away he said to me well that went well it was all positive. I don’t think he gets it.

Hepatic Encephalopathy
I guess what I want to know is, with lactulose and
rifaximin
, how long does the confusion last, will it improve? The sleepiness as well? I feel quite alone with looking after my husband with this condition. Thank you for any information. Carol

Hepatic Encephalopathy (HE) Advice for Newbie
Last November I was diagnosed with HE and prescribed
Rifaximin
. Ammonia level was 185, which I'm told is very high but nothing to compare against. My care was also transferred from my local hospital to the nearest Transplant Centre.

Gas, IBS, SIBO
I tried
Rifaximin
(Xifaxan) and after 6 days I had bad stomach pain and strong diarhea. Since I usually don't suffer from stomach pain I got scared that I will be worse and I stopped drinking it. And now what?

Xifaxan (Rifaximin) Headache
Wondering if anyone had bad side effects when starting Xifaxan and how long they lasted? I've read this is one of the safest antibiotics with little side effects. Antibiotics have never bothered me in the past so I started it yesterday and was naueous most of the day and developed a severe headache

I only take
rifaximin
but i never tried diets like fodmap, etc. (Althoug i avoid dairy, gluten, most of fruits and vegetables, beans, etc etc.). I am underweight and i eat only five or six foods. I know the existence of vinculin test (IBScheck) but it is not available in my country.

Dysbiosis problems with Pernicious Anaemia
I was given
Rifaximin
but after the antibiotic things were the same. The doctors didn't know what to do, then a new analysis of gut flora became available (I live in France). The results were very interesting.

Tightness in gut after eating.
Has been, since January, on a one week in 4 cycle of
Rifaximin
antibiotic due to a positive glucose hydrogen methane breath test, which appears to be helping his ability to tolerate certain foods. Still no weight gain. We were hoping the post food tightness would be improving by now.
