Hi guys, I'm new to the forum 3 years ago I started having uncontrollable gas at work. Slowly, than it became worse. Than I decided to quit as I was ashamed.
I was than diagnosed with IBS and I started the Foodmap diet. As you know, this diet is very restrictive However this diet is not that easy and what shocked me is that each of my different doctors seem to interprete this diet differently. So one would suggest that I could have coffee or cheese and another one said that I never should. I received books from these doctors and papers that pretty much contradict themself.
So I never came to a stage where I felt better for 2 weeks really so I could introduce different food. I have gas every few minutes all the time.
Than I was diagnosed with SIBO. I tried Rifaximin (Xifaxan) and after 6 days I had bad stomach pain and strong diarhea. Since I usually don't suffer from stomach pain I got scared that I will be worse and I stopped drinking it. And now what? Now I seem worse as I am noticing people in the bus covering their noses around me and sniffing. It seems that now I have leaky gas.
I admire all of you fighting here. I don't unerstand how one can work, be around people with this condition. I'm not giving up. But I don't know how to fight...

Hi, was there any discussion about prebiotics or probiotics? I understand your pain, cheese (lactose) and it's fatty will make you gassy especially if you are intolerant. Coffee is also a laxative for most and the caffeine can be a trigger.
Thank you for your answer. So from what I read prebiotics can make SIBO worse. That's so confusing. I keep reading contradicting info. My doctor gave me in the meantime Neomycin. I don't feel any improvement yet. I took the bus and everybody is making sniffing noises and I realized that I got so stressed that i was more gassy. It's scary that my thoughts can worsen my condition. I am starting to feel panic when I'm around people. It's tough
