Update
Thank you for all your support. My partner, Andrew, is still critically ill. After being told that his chances of survival are slim it’s been soul destroying. His oxygen level has been reduced from 70% to 60%. His bilirubin levels have dropped since admittance and he has remained stable for the past

New treatment for wet AMD available in Scotland
A new treatment for wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which would require fewer injections, has been approved for NHS patients in Scotland today. Brolucizumab (Beovu), which could see patients going as much as 12 weeks between injections, has been approved by the Scottish Medicines Consortium

Hi all. I've been a lurker here since I had some liver issues that were picked up from routine blood tests, with the usual culprits GGT, ALP, AST, ALT all raised. This was put down to fatty liver due to my high alcohol consumption, and rough liver texture on the ultrasound, by the hepatologist, based

Anxiety re alcohol related fears
Hi Hope you don't mind me asking the question but I just wondered if anyone else had driven themselves mad by googling symptoms and then convincing themselves they had every one of them. I have one spider nevi (which has to be magnified to see) but I now think I have cirrhosis. I sometimes feel like

ALT and GGT - alcohol related
Hi I’m new to the site. I’m 45, female and yes a heavy drinker so I’ve done this to myself. My most recent blood tests showed ALT was 59 (upper limit 34) and GGT 49. How bad is this? I’ve stopped alcohol now. Apart from the alcohol I eat really well and exercise daily, BMI of 21. I know no-one can give

Lucentis injections
Hi everyone just had my 4th injection today and feeling really well after this latest one. Just a thought, as nearly always takes me a good 24 hours normally to feel brighter after them. Just wondering if this is due to build up, getting used to them or struck lucky with my injector today? Would love

Gynaecomastia (man boobs)
Do any of you men have this condition? I've read that liver disease can cause this (imbalance of testosterone and oestrogen) but it can also be a side effect of Spironolactone diuretic medication. I have cirrhosis and also take Spironolactone for pitting oedema in my lower legs and feet (the medication

How much has lockdown increased your alcohol consumption?
Before the beginning of the year I would go to work come home 8ish and a quiet night 4 pints. Over the weekend 14-16. Now thanks to having to stay at home with a laptop it's been ~6 pints weekdays and that's restraining it because I get so annoyingly lonely and fed up by 4pm I want to grab a beer. Weekends

Caught ‘Red Handed?’ 24 F, Scared
Hi all. I’ll begin this post by admitting that I have severe health anxiety, and have previously diagnosed myself with some horrifying maladies that ended up having no basis in truth, so I may just be overreacting. However, I’ve recently (over the last week) been experiencing some pressure/very dull

vision drops after injection
Does anyone know why vision drops after injection? Both my eyes got injected yesterday. Left eye vision is okay but right eye vision drops significantly. Should I contact the doctor? To be precise, I am sure my vision is dropped, not blurred. Btw, what I have is myopia related wet macular degeneration
