Experts in macular disease will be bringing you the latest information straight from the eye clinic, in a new series of webinars.

The Virtual Clinic series, hosted by the Macular Society, will give you the chance to hear up to date information from ophthalmologists and leading experts and ask the questions you are not usually able to ask in a busy clinic.

The webinars will be aimed at patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and their family or carers and will cover a range of topics, including nutrition and eye health and Charles Bonnet Syndrome.

The first event, which will take place on Tuesday 11 August at 7pm, will welcome Robin Hamilton, consultant ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Macular Society trustee. He will discuss the impact the coronavirus has had on eye clinics and how the pandemic could change the way they operate in the future.

Cathy Yelf, Macular Society chief executive, said: “We know how much patients value hearing from their consultants and experts in macular disease and are grateful to everyone who has agreed to take part in our virtual clinics.

“The coronavirus has inevitably exacerbated feelings of loneliness and isolation over the last few months and we hope these webinars will help patients feel more connected again.

“We are inviting anyone with AMD to come and join us every month for a new topic and a chance to have your questioned answered.”

After the first event the webinars will continue to be held on the second Tuesday of every month at 7pm and will be recorded for anyone unable to attend.

The Virtual Clinics will run alongside another series of condition-specific webinars from our Working Age and Young People’s Service.

Hi Becky. If it's going to be recorded, does that mean that you will supply a link every week?
