Graves’ disease 2 years on
Hi, got diagnosed 2 years ago and what a roller coaster! Still in carbimazole 20mg but feeling lethargic, thyroid swelling up periodically and generally feeling like 💩. Bloods done a few days ago so will ring up consultant to see what is what. My question is, can I stay on carbimazole for longer? I

RAI i would love to hear your experiences 😊
Hi i saw my Endo yesterday and he suggests i have RAI for my hyperthyroidism due to my Graves disease, i had a relapse FT4 76 and he thinks it was due to me being on 5mg Carbimazole daily. I was stable at 10mg daily but he tried to lower dose to see if he could get me totally off the meds...obviously

Hyperthyroidism- First Endo Appointment
Hi All, first appointment with my endocrinologist yesterday following diagnosis of hyperthyroidism in June this year. I’m looking for a bit of help as I feel a bit “bamboozled” with what he said. He explained that the best options were a thyroidectomy or RAI, and the RAI was the one he seemed to steer

What is your dosage after RAI?
Background: I have had graves for 17 years. I battled it successfully for 15 years with PTU but about 2 years ago I had RAI as I became hospitalised with neutropaeonia on both carbimazole and PTU. Since RAI I have had low energy and depression. My question is: What dosage are people on who have had

Pain relief
Hi all, it is coming up to the dreaded period week and I can feel the pain arriving already. I was wondering if anyone takes any painkillers in advance/before the worst of the pain sets in. I was off work for 3 days last month and looking for new ways of pain management. I'm awaiting a laproscopy and

Not living with RLS
Hi I'm writing this as I have now been awake for 36 straight hours. I'm beside myself due to my RLS and PLM. Last night after my partner had gone to bed I tried to sleep, but was unable too. The nasty sensation in my thighs, my shoulders and my feet had me walking on my treadmill for 3 hours, I cooked

What could be causing my dizziness?
Hi. I haven't posted before so I hope it's clear to read! So, I'm having a problem with dizziness, which can last all day but only seems to happen occasionally. This is combined with dry mouth and sleep disturbance (also spinning). Audiology have tested me and can't find any problems there, so what

After a roller coaster of a year, diagnosed thyroid cancer, total thyrondectomy and RAI. I'm just trying to get my head around all the side affects of not having a thyroid and making sure my medication dosage is correct.

I have for the last 4-6 months really struggled with joint pain to the extent that I was in tears. I’ve just read that one of the rare side effects of Levo is: limp or walk favoring one leg pain in the hip or knee I have both, been drs numerous times had bloods for RA, bone

OPERATIONS WITH RLS
Has anyone suffering from severe RLS undergone a hip or knee operations? I have had both hips replaced and have just got home from having a knee replaced.. It is quite apparent that nursing staff do not know very much about RLS and the effect that it has on the healing process of such operations.

Garlic and whole wheat bread are helpful
I noticed that my wife's spaghetti sauce seemed to help my RLS. After a few weeks I realized that it was the garlic in the sauce that seems to make a difference. Garlic alone will not get me safely through the night, but when combined with 24mg of codeine, 1.5mg of ropinirole, and 200mg of gapapentin

What is the safe time between taking levothyroxine and omeprazole, 6 hours?
Hi I'm new to hypothyroidism after
Radioactive
iodine
treatment and have graves. I'm also still under adjustment of levothyroxine 100mcg at present and am getting heartburn quite a lot. I used to take omeprazole for acid reflux and understand that it affects the absorption of levothyroxine.

Thyroidectomy or RAI - pros and cons
Hello, my husband (39 years old) has been diagnosed with Graves’ disease in January 2018. His results are now very good and the antibodies have dropped significantly, in fact they are very low. He is on 12.5mg of PTU every other day. His endo however thinks that he can relapse very quickly (like within
