Does the PBC cause the itch or the urso?
I did start taking
questran
light but gave up after a few days. Is it worth trying again. My official diagnosis is probable PBC as other results don't quite fit with typical PBC.

Double up on Prevalite?
I have still been itching terribly since I started Prevalite (
Questran
) in January. Saw my specialist last Thursday. He wasn't ready to try some the other itch medications I've seen here. Instead he has me taking Prevalite 4 times a day instead of 2.

Questran from GP?
I have read a lot about
Questran
recently and wonder whether people have had it from their GPS or only through a specialist? My GP is very disinterested and just tells me to use loperamide bought over the counter, despite this being of limited help.

Itching and me
He suggested that if the
Questran
did not work then the next line of defence is Naltroxene.

Bloatedness
Been taking
Questran
for almost two months now and it has worked a treat with my itch, I feel like a different person. Only downside is that I am now permanently bloated but I would rather that than the many sleepless nights.

Now really confused!
I am in the process of changing surgeries and whilst having the initial consultation with the GP to sort out prescriptions etc I asked about my itching and
Questran
and she has given me
Questran
Light. No hassle just this is something quite a few people at the surgery need!

BILE ACID MALL ABSORPTION
I have been prescribed COLESTYRAMINE (
QUESTRAN
LIGHT) for Bile Acid Mall Absorption (BAM) but I am allergic to the ingredient: Aspartame as it gives me chronic migraines. There is another medication called COLESTIPOL but one of the side effects is headache/migraine.

ENTERIC COATING....MAY NEED SOME WARNINGS
Dealing with chronic IBS, I generally have
Questran
, Imodium and Pepto Bismol in my system. I'm guessing they could have changed the ph needed to break down the coating. Again, I'm guessing, that 10mg of pred may have just passed through.

PBC: Eye problems and scarring on skin?
The colestryamine/
questran
is a bit like swallowing sand or grit but I've just been using fresh orange juice with it to try and mask the taste. It's not pleasant but hopefully I will see an improvement. The hospital seemed to gloss over the marks on my skin and my eyes.

A brief intro to me and my life with PBC
The only thing ever helped me with the itch and does still to this day was a medication called
Questran
Light. Doesn't take it away totally but does bring it down to milder tolerable levels.

Question ?
I am on prednisolone, mercaptopurine (cytotoxic cancer drug inplace of aza) urso, omeprazole and sometimes
Questran
, if I have issues with over production of bile. I am also concerned that the HRT I use might be causing problems for my liver.

Questran/colestyramine availability?
I am still having problems in finding
Questran
or Colestyramine in this country. Boots cannot get it and I have not been able to find another source. Is anyone else taking it and, if so, where they do they get it from? Professor Read recommended it to me and I find it a great help.

IBS? Yes/no Confused
I have tried every thing the doctors have surgested from buscapan through to
questran
. The majority do nothing for me or cause different issue. I'm following a gluten and dairy free diet which seems to help. I'm now finding little or no help from the doctors and hospital.

Questran/Colestyramine supply problems
I take
Questran
on a regular basis on the advice of Professor Read and find it very effective. However twice this year I have been unable to get it from the pharmacy. We have now found that it is available in pharmacies in France.
