What does all the FEV and other no's mean?
Hi all, I have recently seen my COPD nurse and the results of the tests she did were : FEV 1 0.59 L. FEV1 FVC RATIO 50% FVC 1.17 L PEAK FLOW 125 I haven't a clue what this all means or if it implies what stage I'm at, and as I'm considering making a claim for attendance allowance would really appreciate

buying asthma equipment in London/mail order
My father will be travelling shortly from London to visit me in Israel where I currently live. I've asked him to purchase a few bits of asthma equipment that are either hard to get or overpriced in Israel. I'd like suggestions of where my father might be able to purchase the following items. Would

Alivecor Heart Monitor. - Very helpful !
I am very pleased with the Alivecor monitor. It recorded sessions of: Atrial Fibrillation RVR, Atrial Flutter, PACs, PVCs, V.-Tach/PVCs, and readings up to 214bpm -at which time I had to put it down! Alivecor's email support was very helpful as well. Check into the user manual, (on the menu: HELP

Hi I posted about mild or moderate copd and had good advice. I have been back to Docs and asked what FEV1 reading was it is 74% and GP said it is mild. I was out of breathe after cycling 2 milds so she has changed my inhaler to symibicort twicw a day and Spiriva in the morning. been out on bike again

FEV1 and FVC readings, Just been to my GP surgery for spirometry readings and the figure said 2.60 for FEV1 and 3.50 for FVC.
I see the Doctor tomorrow for results. I just read this with the nurse. It seems more normal than I was expecting. Just wondering if it's measured a different way in the GP surgery to elsewhere maybe?

Third ablation recommended
My case is little bit complex , I had few types of irrethemia along with artificial valve after two open heart surgeries and a scar in the heart . As most of you aware I just had my second ablation two weeks ago , and I can say both of my previous ablations were successful thank god . First one stopped

Not as excellent as I thought!
I posted recently that my FEV1 has increased from 30% to 53%. However Ive Just seen consultant and not such great news as I thought. My 53% is an improvement but I was told not to take too much notice as my history shows big variations (with some ppl apparently it does) so it could be misleading especially

Excellent but strange!
Last August, hospital lung function tests put me at FEV1 30% of predicted. I've had two hospital admissions for life threatening exacerbations since then, yet today given the same tests at hospital I came out at 53%! And they say lung function can't be recovered?! Excellent but strange!

Cat scans, diagnosis + x rays dont add up...
I was diagnosed with BOOP and bronchiectasis when I was 3 years old, hospitalized, then put on oxygen and slowly improved and off oxygen when I was 10, i am now 21 and in college. Today I went to see my doctor, and she said my fev1 numbers growing up and now are constantly around 19%... but she is confused

Feel as though I am chasing my tail!!
Agh, dunno why I am struggling SO much with everything just now!! I have moved from a team, with whom I was happy with, and had an amazing relationship with my asthma nurse there, to a specialist centre, where I thought things may become more sorted/settled/reduce admissions etc. My first appointment

Endobronchial Valve Implants one month on. What today's hospital tests have shown...
A picture of the Tardis. No, that's not me, I'm far more handsome :) So, big day. I have experienced some benefit but not as much as I'd hoped for, especially outside in the cold air. Nice young Portuguese guy stuck me in the Tardis (airtight plethysmograph machine) for exhaustive and exhausting Fev1

Doctor/Nurse visit.
Hi everyone, not been on for ages however I do pop in every week to catch up with Post's and Questions. As you all know I was diagnosed nearly 4yrs ago now (by chance-how time passes), FEV1 of 79% in 2012 then FEV1 of 82% in 2013, classed as very mild-no meds required. Bullous Emphysema, now the nurse
