Small thyroid gland question......
What does it mean if your Free Thyroxine is low (10.8 pmol/L - 12 - 22 R ) and your Thyroid is small ? My Dr is telling me he is unable to except my recent private blood tests which is annoying as I sent bloods of to MediChecks only this morning to check my Thyroid Antibodies which are normally

Testing protocol
Hi, I'm about to test my T3 and T4, 6 weeks after starting lio. I know that I need to leave 24 hours between my last levo dose and the 9am test (taking my levo straight afterwards). But what about the lio timings? I currently take 10mcg in one dose upon waking. The test is a private test and won't be

new to NHS in Northern Ireland
Hi there. Moved to NI two years ago. The local GP won't prescribe anything other than T4 and won't refer to an endocrinologist. Does anyone in Belfast know an NHS or private endocrinologist who is open-minded to using T3 as a supplement to the T4 therapies? I'm feeling poorly and they just accept

Grapefruit
Hello everyone Does anyone know if grapefruit juice interferes with T4/T3 uptake? I know if someone is on statins it has to be avoided I know to avoid Biotin before blood tests but is Nicotimamide ok? Finally has anyone successfully lowered their cholesterol without statins while on T4/T3, I really

I cannot trust my GP
I have had a GP for 8 yrs who used to categorize everything as depression or anxiety or uncurable or everyone gets it. I used to have gut issue and my GP would just tell me that is normal thing. And I should change my diet I had given up on NHS. I had stopped visiting my GP altogether. However

Intrinsic factor
I seem to be at a sticking point with the findings of the intrinsic factor test. This is due to the way they now interpret the test results. My test result was Au/ml 1.63 ... Which I jumped with joy over as I thought "at last, this proves I have been telling the truth". How wrong I was. It is no longer

Endo gave me private prescription
so, good news! The private Endo appointment went as I’d hoped and he was happy to let me try T3. I’m now trying to source it. I’ve had a no back from a couple of places on the list from Thyroid UK. Thing is, I just wanted to check as on the prescription it says triiodothyronine rather than liothyronine

Keep taking the tablets!
I've just been down to the G.P. for my freebie B12 jab. (s.i. at home weekly) I told her that I've been feeling really tired lately, like I did before my P.A. diagnosis, when I was very anemic. So she says, ah, go and buy some B12 tablets from the chemist, that will make you feel better! Cue the lecture

Feeling anxious hopeless desperate and overwhelmed, sad
I’m so down and anxious today really struggling. I can’t think of anything else but fertility and my struggling relationship. I am bleeding black gritty blood as a reminder. I had a negative test two days ago from a fresh transfer where we only got one embryo. . After the negative I drank wine and

Hey everyone, I like to post my latest round of bloods on here each time so people can give me a better insight into what’s happening surrounding my Hashimoto journey. My 13th December bloods were with me taking 175 mcg T4 only and the latest round of bloods is with me now taking 162.5 mcg T4 along

PSA rockets up to 344
Hello - I received quite shocking news during my visit to the Mayo Clinic last week. My PSA has jumped to 344 from a low of 3.6 last November, when I completed chemo with cabazitaxel. PSA did start to rise quite soon, into double digits, but this is by far my highest PSA ever. Dr. Kwon recommended

Do you or someone you know have a diagnosis of Autosomal Recessive Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type-17?
If you or someone you know has a genetically confirmed diagnosis of Autosomal Recessive Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type-17 (SCAR17), you could take part in a new survey about starting a family. The charity Genetic Alliance UK, of which Ataxia UK is a member, are currently sharing a consultation survey

Enid has told me T3 will shorten my life
At my recent endo appointment, the Professor looked at me over the top of his spectacles and said, ‘if the blood test comes back right, I’m happy for you to stop taking the trial of T4 ‘(which I was coerced into taking) “and go onto 3 x day T3, 10mcg. You do realise it’s as clear as barn doors staring

Low phosphate again
Hi everyone, I'll try and keep this as short as I can!So I keep having episodes of upper back & chest pain. Then get random feelings like my heart stops, then it beats super fast then slows again. This happens multiple times in a row which I then go to a&e to get checked out. Every time it comes back
