The healthy thyroids of people 100 years old and over are still making T3 naturally. So, I can't see any reason for an age restriction, can you?
Well I'm aged 78 and need high dose T3-only to function....if there was an upper age limit to it's use then without it one's body would slowly shut down.
It is a sobering thought for those of us who self medicate....should it no longer be available!
I don't think there's an upper age limit however something linked was mentioned by my (very nice) endocrinologist last week who told me that people in their 70s need less thyroid hormone (to feel well) and in their 90s produce less and that might be a survivor bias. He might only have been talking about T3 since that's all I am prescribed.
