My dad had a TURP surgery on Monday. Was doing decent then yesterday he seemed flat. Went to ER and there was a clot in Cath. They gave him a bigger one. He came home and was lifeless. Ambulance had to take him to ER again later yesterday evening. He can’t put 2 words together - does not know his name

Is there a list w/summaries anywhere for clinical trials?
PLATO, ARCHES, LATTITUDE, STAMPEDE...I'm losing track (and my mind). :) On a personal note, we are home. The TURP went well and my husband had almost no bleeding. He said he felt better after the procedure than before. They cleaned out the clots in his bladder again and gave him an IV, so I'm not surprised

Can I discontinue Zoladex after I year instead of taking it for 2?
I am 77 years old and was diagnosed with prostate cancer through a biopsy taken during a TURP in August 2016. After watchful waiting the PSA started rising to 10.3 by April 2018. A biopsy and PSMA PET showed that I had a Stage T3N0M0 tumor (with a Gleason 5+3). After a Zoladex 0.8 injection on

Girding our loins for another surgery
Doing TURP tomorrow. My husband is still not fully recovered from his two-week stay following his kidney stone issue. Worried about his serum albumin going into this, but the surgeon thinks he's good to go and he wants to do it. Wish us luck. Hopefully he will recover well and we can move on to whatever

A Medical Adventure - HIFU
So glad to be back home from Germany after HIFU treatment. Alan had to have a TURP to remove calcium deposits followed by HIFU the same day since calcium deposits could have deflected the ultrasound beam. He had five days in the hospital. No suprapubic catheter needed and the catheter he did have came

Dad with prostate cancer
Hi, never knew this forum existed and I have been reading a lot in the last week. There is so much information here and appreciate reading everyone's experience. Unfortunately, my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in January 2017 with a PSA around 110 and a CT showing enlarged right prostate

Diagnosed early March 2019, but pretty far along. 103 g prostrate - adenocarcinoma in 10 of 15 samples, all with Gleason 4+4 = 8, most samples show cancer at 60% - 100%. Metastasized to the retroperitoneal lymph nodes proven by biopsy. Strangely, the pelvic nodes seem normal. Last PSA 8.4, but none measured

Need help understanding bone density scan.
Had my first DXA Bone Density Scan and it scared the bejeebubs out of me when I read the report. My problem is I don't understand whether it is a serious issue, what may have caused it, and how to fix it.. First, my journey so far: November 2018 TURP with biopsy showed G9 Stage 5 with metastases in

3 Years Post Diagnosis.
Hey Guys, just thought I'd check in with an update as I haven't posted anything in ages. Today marks three years, since my Urologist delivered the news "you have cancer" followed soon after by "stage IV, spread to your bones in about a dozen places". I had just turned 49, so it was the last thing I was

Lost Another Round
June 2017, urination difficulties, Foley catheter took care of that. Biopsy and diagnosed Gleason 9, Gleason 9, Gleason 9, etc. Stage 4, metastases to bones, so surgery, radiation were out. Lupron "That will shrink the prostate so you can pee again." Nope. Still needed catheter and PSA went from

Avoid My Mistake
Had a TURP one year ago and just had my second last week. Ugh! New doc said old doc should have done radiation treatment after the first TURP to prevent the prostrate from spreading and blocking the urethra again.

another TURP after radiation?
I just saw the Urologist who performed an emergency TURP on me (prostate irradiated both with IMRT and Brachytherapy)after I was assaulted by a doctor cramming a catheter through my urethra. He is young but very smart. His specialty is robotic surgery. He is confident and I feel that his opinions although

5 years after Cyberknife and doctor wants to TURP: transurethral resection of the prostate. Anybody been there?
I've been having small blood clots come out when I urinate for several months now. Occasionally a little blood in urine. I've been thoroughly CT scanned and it's not showing prostate cancer lesions. I've had a cystoscopy of the bladder and there bladder itself looked pretty clean. However, we could

A bit of history - MY advanced, aggressive PCa story continues ...
A bit of history - MY advanced, aggressive PCa diagnosis seemed like a death sentence. Age 66 - in reasonable healthy state, overall, although I suffer from severe arthritis,, which I have been able to manage (finally) in the last 18 months, with the help of some off label assistance AND medical cannabis

Knowledgeable urologist in Southern Oregon?
I am looking for a urological second opinion regarding urinary retention after TURP. I am also dealing with Gleason 9 PCa with Zytiga/prednisone/Lupron. I am in the Medford area and could use a good reference to a local urologist who has some experience in this area.

Best laser for prostate surgery while on Eliquis?
Has anybody had any experience with a laser Turp while on Eliquis? I had a prostate resection 10 years ago, ( no PAF then) and it was a quite bloody affair, with 4 days of catheterized bladder washing. I filled tens of colored water bags with the draining of my blood loss. Now I have to do a Turp

Urinary retention months after TURP
Had a TURP in November 2018 and they did a biopsy and found my Gleason 9 PC. Am starting to treat cancer with Zytiga/prednisone/lupron and hope for good news down the road on that issue. However, even after the TURP, I am retaining too much urine even though I can pee. So, my urologist has me self catheterizing

Up and Down, Back and Forth, Conflicting PCa history. Will value all opinions re future treatment. TYIA!
In a post on Feb. 3, which was incomplete regarding my husband’s 4.5 year history with diagnosed PCa, I replied to George71 (his post entitled, “SABR-COMET-10 trial that radiates up to 10 lesions”) that my husband and I are struggling as George71 is with the decision of how/when to proceed with (husband's
