New to forum 53 years old 18 years of urinary issues urgency, infections, bph proctitis, retention twice. prostate is 5 times bigger than suppose to be. 3rd biopsy found outer edge of prostate...cancer. just diagnosed 60’days ago . Glean score 6. 1 core out of 12 found positive. Doctor suggest AS want to treat over sized prostate and urinary issues first not concerned with cancer at this time. Starting Finasteride (proscar) see if this reduces size of prostate and then possible do Turp to relieve retention issues . Watch psa levels and MRI in 6 months

Sounds like a good plan. Consider HoLEP, Rezum, and arterial embolization too for your BPH.
Good luck with all of this. I had TURP last August and a close friend had Holep at same time. As you get closer I’m happy to download each of our experiences. BTW, we were both diagnosed with PCa last spring, I was G 3 + 4 and friend 4 + 3.
I highly suggest if your biopsy was a random biopsy, to do n MRI guided biopsy. My random biopsy was 0-14. My mri guides biopsy 3 months later only did three cores. All were positive Gleason 8. 0-14 vs 3-3. That says it all. Make sure they didn’t miss a more agressive cancer.

Thanks corn your input . I haven’t had a MRI yet. They want to do one in six months. I have had just the 3 biopsy’s over the past 2 years. The last biopsy found the cancer first two were negative.
AS ..... i would get 3 opinions on pathology report ..... then follow up with urologist
