Synacthen Test
Hi, I received a letter from my Rheumatologist saying that my cortisol levels are normal following the Synacthen test 2 weeks ago. It says it is now safe to stop taking steroids. My question is, as i have been on steroids for over 5 years should i just stop or continue reducing. I am now taking 2.5mg

Reducing prednisone to zero
My question is, if I am feeling okay can I just keep reducing my
prednisone
every three / four weeks? I don’t want to have any adrenal issues.

Out of the blue fast falling platelets. CLL and ITP since long. By pass surgery of heart one year ago.
Troublesome ITP since 9 years. Past 6 months platelets has finally been stable, treated with Revolade (Eltrombopag) 25 mg and low dose Prednisolone. In January one year ago, two of my clogged arteries in heart had a by pass surgery. Survived serious complications. Slow heart rehabilitation. Was looking

Back pain and spasms
I was diagnosed with PMR in 2020. I have been on prednisolone since then trying to type it off but only actually managed to get off of the drug for about three weeks before having to restart. I’ve only really had pain in my lower body and legs, only occasionally in my arms. Recently I have had acute

PET scan results and thoughts please :-)
Hello everyone. I haven’t posted for a while and I hope you are all keeping well. I recently had a PET scan which showed absolutely no inflammation in my body and no tumours. The scan was done because I cannot seem to get below 5mg of Prednisolone without flaring and the rheumatologist felt there

Any advice on questions to ask GP at review of 1 week prednisolone trial?
I’ve just done 1 week trial on 15mg Prednisolone (which has eased symptoms of PMR to some extent). GP will call tomorrow to review and presumably come up with plan for future treatment. I’ve made notes over past 7 days to go through with him but I wondered if there are particular questions I should

Anyone have a new perspective on prednisone “ok” dose?
I’ve been slowly reducing my
prednisone
over many months. From 5 mg. now to 2 mg for about 6 weeks. My diagnosis of lupus came in 2016. I’ve been living with a spine problem for many years. It wasn’t until 2016 though that I began
prednisone
at 3 mg with my hydroxy.

PMR or RA?
- He is currently at 3mg
Prednisone
- He is also currently taking Methrotrexate (MTX) - 2.5mg tablets x 5 = 12.5 every Monday - Stiffness and achy in the morning. Difficulty bending down and impossible to get up from kneeling without assistance. Symptoms generally ease in the afternoon.

Inflammatory reaction to sugar and carbohydrate ?
did I read somewhere on this site that people with PMR and or on prednisolone can develop a reaction to carbohydrate ? One of the first things I recall about this journey was feeling very dodgey after sucking some butterscotch sweets on an empty tummy. That was before I was diagnosed and given steroids

Struggling with flare/withdrawal
Would welcome your advice again.Brief recap .. been on Prednisolone since October 2022. Consultant started me on 15mg and advised to reduce by 1mg per month. Dramatic response to pred which went a long way in clinching diagnosis. Had a relapse last May/June at 4mg. Felt dreadful. Saw GP. Ended up going

Medication for Vasculitis
Hi. I have had Vasculitis for four years and my current medication is Prednisolone 5.5 mg daily and Methotextrate Injection 25mg weekly. Following the onset of my illness I now have to use a wheeled walker to get around and can no longer drive a motor vehicle.

Question re side effects of Prednisone at different levels
I'm tapering slowly and at 14mg
Prednisone
now. A couple days ago I received blood work results which showed a marked increase of A1C, LDLs and Glucose. I'm a careful eater and I exercise. Therefore I believe this is the fault of the Pred.
