Hi there diagnosed with PMR April 23, after having very bad lower middle back pain, pain in shoulders arms & neck (ha MRI as originally thought it was slipped lower disc, but negative on this, raised blood results confirmed PMRBeen on Prednisolone tapering regime started on 30mg now at 1mg only seen Bupa consultant for initial diagnosis, eventually had a face to face with rheumatology who said come back when I have a repeat of symptoms, I had my flu & COVID booster in October 23 & can say that whenever I catch a cold / flu it's never ending can take 6 weeks to recover, does anybody else have similar issues, antibiotics don't help, I feel as if I always got a cold, on 1 mg prednisolone body does ache around shoulders, neck & cervix area have a few issues first thing getting out of bed & walking during the day & last week started getting a rash left shoulder & back

Have to say a reduction from 30mg to 1mg within 12 months is very quick for PMR… so to that end you really need to be increasing Pred and getting it back under control.. have you contacted Rheumy to tell them.?

The other issues could be attributed to your adrenals struggling - they can affect a lot more than you think.

Can I ask - did you give your post the title -Ambiee? It doesn’t really make any sense? We have had issue with the forum recently, so trying to find out if it was entered by you or a glitch on system

Sorry Post should have been Colds & Flu Symptoms, my mistake, I haven't contacted Rheumatology at the moment about time period for Cold / Flu symptoms but was just asking if others on forum had any similar issues, not 100% sure at moment if I have PMR or something else is is mimicking same symptoms

No problems… and yes it could be different things, it’s sometimes difficult to know what is what.

But would say again - probably too fast a taper, plus adrenals struggling.

Because your immune system is suppressed by the Pred [that’s their job at the moment] you are more likely to suffer from colds/flu and any other viruses that with them you may well just sail through.

You can edit post title quite easily… as PMRpro has explained… but I was trying to ascertain whether you had actually typed ‘Ambiee’- or the system was to blame… we have an ongoing issue and I’m trying to get the HU tech team to sort it out.

Please may I mention that the purpose of the title is to give an indication of the content of the comment or question - so it needs to be something meaningful. I can't make any sense of your title.

A blood test showing raised inflammatory markers does not "confirm PMR", all it shows is that there is inflammation in the body. Not where it is coming from. Do you mean you have aching in the cervical area of the spine - not the cervix since you are male! I would suggest this isn't necessarily PMR as we discuss it but possibly due to another underlying condition.

So sorry I messed up when posting, cant see any method of going in & editing, title should have been Colds & Flu Symptoms. My original bloods were CRP 25 ESR 38 when I initially got diagnosed with PMR, Rheumatology after first review could be something else that replicates similar conditions to PMR, my aches & pains are more Shoulders Neck area & Pelvis area lower inner back dull pain

To edit, click on More at the bottom of your post. That provides the option to Edit amongst other things. The primary advantage is that Related Posts will come up to provide a wider reading option.

Shoulders/neck and pelvis are all typically PMR as we mean it and I certainly recognise what you say. But it can ALWAYS be something else so they do need to look carefully.

We are just intrigued how it ended up being ambiee!
