Made a decision to have further tests done
Hi all. Following a horrible week of symptoms I've finally decided to take charge of my own health and have further tests done. I have benefitted massively from advice here so thanks to everyone who has so far responded to my posts. It truly is comforting to know you're not alone, not going mad and it's

This is a long shot, but although I have been on a number of pills for a few years, ie levothyroxine, bisoprolol, furosemide, pravastatin and losartan, also flecainide but that has been stopped after my ablation. I was started on Rivaroxaban before an ablation, last December and after two or three months

Pravastatin vs. Simvastatin
My LDL cholesterol has gone up considerably in the last couple years. I'm not sure if it is an inflammatory response to all the radiation, but regardless, I am thinking of adding a statin. I have read and my MO agrees there may be a mild benefit in the prostate cancer battle to adding a statin. Does

Statins and sharp pains
Hi I’m new here. I’m on my 3rd statin (Rosuvastatin) having had Atorvastatin and then Pravastatin and seem to be suffering from random pains in my chest area. It’s not Angina as I’ve used my GTN spray with no real effect. The pains only last a minute or so at a time but are quite unnerving. I was

Livalo: A Safer Statin?
While it appears that "LIVALO® IS ONLY MINIMALLY METABOLIZED VIA THE CYP450* SYSTEM," it uses another enzyme or pathway that "is in conjugation with glucuronic acid via liver UGTs† with subsequent formation of
pitavastatin
lactone."

Pravastatin Effective Dosage
Hello - I've been on 40mg Pravastatin for about 4 months now. I had a follow up lipid panel, and my cholesterol's effectively been cut by over 40% (from 251 to 153). Given this reduction, I'd like to get on a smaller dose (20mg) but so far the Doctor has resisted and wants to see how my levels are in

Non-PCa Prescription Drugs: Statins - Lipophilic or Hydrophilic?
Statins are sometimes described as being either lipophilic (hydrophobic) or hydrophilic (lipophobic) as though that were a binary condition. While Pravastatin is extremely hydrophilic, fluvastatin is an example of a statin occupying an intermetiate position. Hydrophilic statins: Pravastatin & Rosuvastatin

Pitavastatin [Livalo]
When I asked my doctor for Simvastatin, based on sketchy evidence that it might be the best statin for PCa,
Pitavastatin
[Livalo] had not yet been approved by the FDA (2009). Until Dr Myers post, I had never heard of Livalo. There are no PubMed hits for <prostate
pitavastatin
>.

Am I experiencing a blood pressure med reaction?
I'll try to be kind of brief... I'm 35 year old male, married w/ two precious girls (4yrs & 3yrs old). About 6 years ago we discovered that I had high blood pressure while checking bp at my inlaws house. We have high bp and high cholesterol in my family so we decided to go to "the families" cardiologist

Statins
Over the last 2 years since having a heart attack and one stent implanted I've had 2 different statins simvastatin Lipitor and currently Pravastatin all in turn have had an effect of causing me to have nightmares and odd dreams are all statins likely to have this side effect? or is there one which doesn't

My 8yr olds aching legs
My 8 yr old has recently started taking Pravastatin 10mg having been diagnosed with FH. He complained last Sunday of having aching legs but has been fine since. I'm not sure whether to put this down to too much tree climbing and football or a side effect. Does anyone know if this side effect can come
