NASH....What the heck is going on? Can someone please help explain all of this to me?
Hi Everyone, I hope you are enjoying the holidays! I have been posting questions as my tests have changed, because I can't seem to get any solid answers from my doctors. I apologize in advance if you have read one of my crazy emails, but I am so scared and just can't seem to get any solid answers.

I have SLE, diagnosed in April 2000. I have no-one looking after me for my Lupus. What blood tests should I be having if any, and how often?
I have a kidney transplant, this is due to Lupus 'killing off' my kidneys, eye troubles - light sensitivity and multiple episodes over many years of scleritis, rarely iritis too. I have highly sensitive, itchy skin, and quite fatigued mostly, often feel completely rubbish, systemically just not right

Anybody on statins who's got problems getting off to sleep
Was on simvastatin for 5 years after a TIA in my left eye. My artery was absolutely clear of clots so it wasn't clear why it had happened. My father died of a heart attack at 49 though and my siblings and I all have high blood pressure which I have now under control with amlodipine. Also lost 5 kg. GP

Are commercial cholesterol testing kits/machines any use?
Hi, This is my first post. I have really benefited from reading all of your blogs and questions so far. I had a stent fitted 6 weeks ago due to a severe blockage in LAD coronary artery. Alongside all the other meds I need to take, I have tried Atorvastatin and Pravastatin (as well as Simvastatin previously

FH child and statins
I have a prescription waiting at the doctors to start my 14 year old son on pravastatin. Still not sure if this is the right thing to do. Would appreciate some advice/support from other parents with FH kids about their experiences or if you have FH and have been on statins since childhood. Thanks.

14 year old son starting statins
I have agreed to my 14 year old son with FH starting pravastatin. Feeling a bit nervous about it. Consultant wants my 10 year old daughter to start them too but I want to hold off a bit longer for her. Would value any advice, support from others with children on statins or anyone who started statins

Lipid clinic Hell!
The lipid clinic I attend is so completely dire! I arrived this morning after a cancellation appointment was offered to me over the phone on Wed. Appointment time 9.45. I got there for 9, as usually there is a massive que for bloods, today, no que and I went straight through. No organisation to be weighed

Is it too soon to get excited?
Hi, well at last, after all these years, I am tolerating a statin. I honestly feel like I have won the lottery! I know it is only 10mg but it is more than I have ever been able to tolerate in the past and all because of the help I have received from this site, so a BIG thank you! AM - No Flush Niacin

start of Pravastatin 10mg - not good!
After a fantastic and relaxing holiday, I thought I would bite the bullet and go back to my GP to see if we can start again on lowering my Cholesterol. I started 10mg of Pravastatin at 10pm last night. 4am this morning my knees, thighs and fingers were aching terribly, it is so bad that you just do

What to do Next.
The present state of my cholesterol saga is that I have been taking pravastatin 20mg for about six weeks. I have been OK with it, just a couple of very painful cramps and a bit of muscle twitching at night. Latest results are TC 6.5, LDL 4.1, trigs 0.84 and HDL 2. I know this will not be good enough

Muscle Cramps.
This morning at 5am I leapt out of bed with an agonising cramp in my right calf. It is still sore 5 hours later. I am really upset about this as I have been taking a low dose of pravastatin for about 5 weeks and I thought I would be OK. Husband suggests it could have been an active evening of swimming

GP Confuses Me (again).
I went to the GP to get a prescription for pravastatin as ordered by the lipid clinic. I saw another GP in the practice who I could describe as being either realistic or anti statin. He described pravastatin as being the "cleanest statin", said he sees side effects all the time and totally believed the

Successful Consultation
In contrast to DakCB-UK's post a month ago I have just had a successful visit to the Lipid Clinic. I was dreading this one as I haven't been taking any medication since January and last time I went I had a heated disagreement with the consultant over misdiagnosis and conflicting information about genetic
