Strange asthma
Hi I have had asthma since I was 5 years old. I am now 64. The last few years my asthma has gotten worse -well I think it has. I have never been hospitalised and I have never been to a chest specialist. I have been on the same inhalers fir the last 18 years namely Foradil and Qvar and the last 5 years

Montelukast Question
Hi I'd like to hear from several users of Montelukast as to how long they feel it took to get an improvement in their symptoms. Hoping to get several answers so I can compare them and arrive at an average time-frame I should expect to wait on any positive results (assuming I'm lucky enough for this drug

Newly Diagnosed
I was given a working diagnosis of asthma last week after 3 weeks of very varied peak flow readings (done at home as requested by my doctor) and a prescription of salbutamol for use if needed. I am grateful for a diagnosis as I've been having these same issues for around 7 years but they never got bad

Hi. I've had asthma since being a child but has always been fairly well controlled with only occasional flair, but since beginning of Jan it has been a difficult time. Initially I was given antibiotics for chest infection and 30 steroids for 5 days, when these finished 2 days layer I went back as still

I'm currently in hospital. I'm having nebs but they havnt done anything else. I'm still very wheezy. My peak flow is down to 50% and I'm getting very scared. What should be happening now?

Recently I had to double up on my normal dose of fostair, due to a really bad cold and a chest infection. The doctor gave me some antibiotics and I kept on taking my increased meds for about 4 weeks till my peak flow got back to its normal ready and remained steady. There's only one side effect I have

Remedies for constant chest infections which start asthma flare ups
Hi. I'm new to this site & just wondered if anyone has any advice & has been going through the same thing. I'm 48 & have been asthmatic since the age of 8, although I only had a few flare ups & recovered quickly. The last 10 years I have had many flare ups, but has been particularly bad the last 4 years

shortness of breath
I'm a slim 70 year old female, non smoker. I'm experiencing shortness of breathe with exercise, a tightness in my chest. I've had an ECG which was normal and a chest xray which was clear. Done a peak flow test which was normal for my height age etc, My symptoms aren't getting any better and I live on

Shortness of breathe
I am a fit slim 70 year old female experiencing shortness of breath, tightening in my chest with exercise. I've had a ECG test which was normal and a blood test to test for heart failure. Also had a chest xray which is normal and blown a peak flow test which had indicated a normal reading?

Has anyone bought or got a NIOX VERO® for assessment and management of airway inflammation for asthma?
Hi. My asthma is still not great. I'm taking a nebuliser treatment at home now once a day along with steroids still. I just found this link, It's USA based but it has a UK link to it. The website looks very thorough, with case studies, publications, resources and so much info about what they are about

What is your peak flow normally?
Mine is 460-480 normally. I just started using it for a few days and it always stays there. I am female and 157. I was just curious about yours.

update
I wrote on here yesterday for advice about fostair. I have since spoken to a asthma nurse and the extra doses between the am and pm is because my asthma is not controlled. she adviced me to get a aerochamber plus and assess my peak flow over the weekend as either im not getting enough medicine or its

Coughing
Well had to give in and go to the Drs today after cough slowly getting worse and hardly any sleep over the last few days peak flow down from 370-400 to 320 this morning. Back on pred again with an order to keep a check on peak flow and any more dip then straight to hospital, so fingers crossed 🤞🏻See

Damp weather and Asthma
The damp weather is making my chest ache but peak flow as usual rock solid. I was wondering what other people's experiences and what they do if dampness is a trigger.

An update
So for the people who've been supporting me the last week I just want to give you an update. I went to a and e this morning. My peak flow was down to 270 and my best is 470. I was nebulised and an X-ray was done which showed nothing. So they sent me home straight away. I've since had to have my inhaler

Suffering with chest problems for three months.
Hi I'm new here but have been following post for the last couple of months. Basically I have been using a ventoline for about 30 years. I've never had an asthma attack or anything like that I just get a bit tight chested and wheezy every now and then so I use to use the inhaler about 1 puff 3 to 5 times
