Workwise here Hi everyone
If you start to cough stuff up then it might be worth making an appointment to see your GP or Asthma Nurse.
Alternatively you could get a telephone appointment and discuss your concerns with your GP.
Hi there. A peak reading of 200 is very low. Good advice from your previous respondent to get a doctors appointment very quickly. My consultant told me that if the reading drops to below 250 I should start using an emergency pack of Prednisolone. You may also be put on Doxicilin too. Over Christmas I got another chest infection and only now back to a reading of 350. I am classed as a chronic asthmatic and my best readings in summer are 450. Best of luck
150 drop I peak flow is significant drop. It could be due to poor technique blowing it so I woyld check peak flow a few times to be sure reading is correct. If still 150 I would take blue inhaler to ope the airways and wait five minutes and recheck peal flow to see if it has improved. If not I would be contacting gp since u might have inflammation in airways which needs treated maybe with steriods ir if infection antiobotics. Dont let peak flow get too low. Even phone a and e for advice. Low peak flow would suggest u cant get enough air from your lungs to blow the reading to ur usual 350. Pls seek medical help. Hope u r ok.
200 is less than 60% of your normal. IF you have an action plan it states clearly that is time to get help. Now. ( I ended up in hospital for a few days with comparable numbers last summer - but it had been falling gradually over some days, and prednisolone wasn't helping).
Hospital visit at3-30 this morning put on a nebuliser because oxygen level low blood pressure was also raised and I had a temperature,I've got a chest infection left with steroids and antibiotics thanks everyone for your help x
I think you need to see your dr my friend 200 is low , I think you should ring out of hours Drs .
It seems to be going up now upto 230 now do I wait till chest infection goes before I go back to doctor if peak flow goes low again
My typical peak Flows 350 and I was told if it hit 180 or below to ring 999. 250 was the point at which I was told to start Oral Steroids, although I was also told to start them earlier if I felt very poorly. If my Peak Flow was 200 I'd be seeking professional help without delay to be honest. You can also ring 111 but - in my experience - it may be an Hour or more before you get a doctor phone call back after speaking initially with a call handler.
