Did you Know? 🤔
Did you know 80% of sudden cardiac deaths could be avoided if a defibrillator was used together with CPR within a few minutes? These two simple steps can save thousands of lives each year in UK. Our #DefibsSaveLives campaign promotes the need to equip communities with these life saving devices: https

Excising of thyroid
This is just passing on what a doctor has told me. In surgical thyroidectomy, it is quite often the case that a small portion of the thyroid is left, and apparently the pituitary isn't sensitive to or affected by this small T4 contribution. With radio-destruction of the thyroid, this almost always results

Do I need an Ablation ?
I had a recent cardioversion which put me back into sinus rhythm for just one week. During this week I hadn't notice any significant difference in how I felt, with the exception of feeling quite lively for about half a day ( I assumed this was maybe something to do with the anaesthetic) In a recent

AFib and magnetic bracelet
hi, just throwing this out there….does anyone know if it’s safe to wear a magnetic bracelet when I have AFib condition? I am still a newbie Afibber, just diagnosed 4 weeks ago and waiting for echocardiogram. I have only had 1 bad AFib episode so far, ending up in hospital etc. But I know they can occur

Pilates and Afib
Hey All, You know mild exercise is not ruled out and indeed recommended for people with Afib and with heart disease at large. Yoga being the mostly referred as a particularly good exercise in Afib due to its regulatory effect on breath and destressing the body. I have been ablated for Afib and Tachycardia

Bisoprolol, Sotalol and Coronary Artery Disease.
I had a phone consultation with a cardiologist today and it was agreed that I would have a CT angiogram in 4-6 weeks. He considers that there is a “moderate” probability that I have coronary artery disease. In the meanwhile he wants me to switch from Sotalol to Bisoprolol. I am reluctant to do this as

afib and blood pressure
Hello all, paramedics just left about half hour ago and I need to ask a question. My blood pressure shot up to 203/134 at my last reading before the paramedics arrived. They took blood pressure and said it was 177/97 they saw I was very anxious and stressed out. Asked if I wanted to be taken to emergency

Afib and Covid
What I had thought a few days ago was a cold, has turned out to be Covid. Here I was, prattling on about humidity and all the while, good old ‘Rona’ was brewing. My Afib had been a bit more evident in recent weeks, but not bothersome. My Covid seems to have peaked quickly and the headache and fever have

Thyroid and Thyroxine.
I have Hashimoto’s (under active Thyroid). I was diagnosed at the age of 11 I was treated by 2 lovely doctors Mr Talbot and Dr Ewan at Harold Wood Hospital Essex. I developed a goitre and for personal reasons had a Thyroidectomy ( but they left a small part of it there). I was then put on Thyroxine

Ectopics and flecainide
Morning everyone. I have posted here recently concerning flecainide and received some very helpful information. Since being recommended this drug for my ectopic beats (which I have tried to 'live with') by an EP, my consultant has since suggested I try it as a pill in the pocket. The recommended dosage

Ideas to try to help fall asleep
I was thinking some of the drugs that help PC may also have effects such as insomnia, but I don't know sure. I have trouble myself, sleeping at times. For me, I know it is because my mind won't shut off, I am a worrier. Here are a couple things that may help to fall asleep. Try to wind down at

Third Ablation
I had my third ablation two days ago. My EP was very pleased with the procedure and I was in normal sinus right after but about eight hours later I went back into AFib. I was so disappointed. However, he assured me the ablation was a success but it will take a little while for the heart to recover. I

Adrenals or Not Adrenals
Well, further to my post last week, I've had the results of both my faecal occult blood test (for new re-occurring digestive issues) and BNP blood test (for indications of heart failure) and all have come back normal with no further action required. The extreme fatigue has improved significantly

Update on my Pace and Ablate
Last Friday I went for the ablation of my sinus node in great trepidation but I needn't have worried as it all went like clockwork. The sedation was wonderful and I was back on the ward within an hour and home in time for tea! The first couple of days were a bit uncomfortable and I dropped off the

Thyroid Blood Results
I have had a full womens health blood test with Medichecks which I do annually. I had a diagnosis of enlarged multi-noduled goitre with isolated T3 toxicosis. I was on a very low dose of Carbimazole since 2011. On 25th May 2022 I had a full thyroidectomy as the enlarged goitre had begun to cause
