Ideas to try to help fall asleep

I was thinking some of the drugs that help PC may also have

effects such as insomnia, but I don't know sure.

I have trouble myself, sleeping at times.

For me, I know it is because my mind won't shut off, I am a worrier.

Here are a couple things that may help to fall asleep.

Try to wind down at least 40 minutes before wishing to fall asleep.

Keep a journal and write things in it that you hope to do tomorrow, or anything that is on your mind.

stop all caffeine many hours before you go to bed.

Drink a few ounces of tart cherry Juice. You can buy the pure tart juice at the grocery. It increases the bioavailability of tryptophan and also increases your body's production of melatonin.

Wear warm socks because your feet help with circadian Rythm

Remember posture is important for sleep. Try to lie in a sleeping position, not sitting up to read.

Keep on Healing 🌹🦚🦋

Love it. Very very similar to my 3-5-7 technique which I use for Meditation, and have explained to many guys here a few times in past year. It works for me, and once you get in to that state, it is easy to go back. Practice makes perfect. Mike

I do do the deep breathing at times. (Dodo, that's funny.) I listen to podcasts from my echo speaker, timer set to turn off. Works every time. Then I wake up in about 2 and a half hours for bathroom dribble. Don't listen to music.

There's an app called 'libby' and I can get free audiobooks from the library. Also has built in timer (currently set for 1 hour) and I never seem to hear the speaker turn off.

Thanks. My brother recommended that app and I did download it. I do need to investigate it further. Maybe they have some light reading. The Prostate Snatchers comes to mind for some reason.

I take THC gummy an hour before bed and if I don't fall asleep within a half hour I smoke and am out

Just used a THC, CBD and CBN gummy specifically made for sleep last night for the first time. Works really well and I only used a small piece. And I also slept through and that is usually the problem for me. Highly recommended.

Thank You. Where do you purchase theTHC sleep gummies

EdBacon profile image
EdBacon in reply toLrv44221

Got them at a local dispensary in California where I live. The cost was around $20 for a pack of 20. I only used about 1/4 of one so far but I'm not a regular user. You do eventually build up a tolerance if you use them a lot, but I figure at the rate I'm going these will last a long time. The brand is called Plus and it's lychee flavored gummies. They have 1mg THC, 2mg CBN, and 3mg CBD. That's a good ratio for sleeping and they really relax your body. There is pretty close to zero psychoactive affect from these.

I get them at the “cannabis store”, for lack of a better term. Recreational cannabis is now legal in Vermont so we have such places and no prescription is needed. If it wasn’t legal I’d get my dr to give me a prescription for them at the medical dispensary.

I'm so glad you wrote. Your information is spot on. I know of the adrenal axis. IE: tryptophan and melatonin etc. when I post, I sometimes do not say all I know for fear of being criticized.

🌹👍I am so thankful for your wonderful Post. Thank You very much

I see very little criticism on this forum. Something about this site is when you state something you should have done your research because your dealing with no nonsense warriors that can and will ask for clarification. This is a good thing because it filters out chaff. Us warriors don’t need chaff.

Lrv44221 in reply toKocoPr

👍 I agree

I use a CBD gummy and melatonin. I have a prescription for lorazepam (1 mg) if I really have a problem with occasional insomnia. I also use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea. I don't fit the profile of being significantly overweight but a sleep study showed that I had sleep apnea.

Yingsang's advice is good, I have tried tryptophan and 5-HTP and those did not work for me melatonin makes me totally groggy the next day. I have had insomnia for years sometimes worse than others. I have found that two 200 mg L-theanine (same ingredient found in green tea) it helps calm my mind and a Gaba before bed help me pretty well. Breathing exercises also are good. I tried the cognitive therapy approach but obviously was not committed enough to get any lasting results.

Be sure to check to see if whatever supplements that are taken might interact with the ADT. That info is hard to find and often non-existent but worth checking just in case.

Oh Yingsang,

I am very loquacious, and I fear I may get too wordy and boring. but from now on I am going to just say what I feel because someone might benefit from my suggestions.

thank You for asking

I use melatonin to help get a deep sleep.

THC helps fall asleep, but be aware I’ve read that interferes with REM sleep.

OTC Unisom (doxylamine succinate) helps.

Brainwave synchronization apps have helped me.

Biggest help for me was an Rx for Codeine/Tylenol to address the bone pain in my hip during the night. Not a solution for most, and narcotics can be addictive, but for the first time in ages I actually got a full four hours of sleep last night.

My Rx was for 10mg three times daily, but I’m only taking 5mg once daily at bedtime.

When you do get your gummies make sure you get the ones for sleep . They have two kinds one gives you energy with THC and one for sleep. We have a smoke shop in our town that has them they are called delta 8 Alien and are jell beans but they seem to work so much better than just plan gummies. Finally sleeping thru night.

Lrv44221 in reply toMeshel48

thanks, but where we live we need a card from a dr to get any MJ, so I have to find a dr that will do that?

in reply toLrv44221

In my area of Florida, the whole MJ thing is a big farce. When I go to the dispensary to get my drops, I see people of all ages that I know don't have any medical conditions of any kind. The doctors are making a lot of money off of this stuff and they will make up anything to get you a card. It's a no brainer.

Excuse me. You cannot diagnose people simply by looking at them in line at the cannabis dispensary.

Why would that stray thought prevent you from getting access to something that might help with insomnia?

in reply toNRH_Beach

You have to be a liberal. Only they live outside the realm of reality!

I take half of a 50 mg Trazadone every night. I also live in a medical marijuana state so I get bottles of tincture oil that have a high THC content and take 5 mg of oil drops. With these two, I sleep very well even with getting up to pee 3 times a night. If you can't get any THC product, you could take the full 50 mg Trazadone.

yes, for sure some of the drugs we take wire us and some make us tired.

I take my 1,000 mg of Zytiga/Abiraterone at night as it makes me tired. Also, of course Melatonin at night. Itake my 5mg of Prednisone and tumeric-curcumin in the mornings as they wire me up.

When cannot fall asleep I bite a Advil PM in half (half works better than whole) which konks me out within 30 min.

Just saw a sleep expert on Instagram (danger, danger), who said remove all electronics from room. Charge all electronics in another room. If you must hv your phone, put it on Airplanne mode. Finally, pull your headboard 12””-18” away from wall. Said if you measure EMF’s of most beds that people would be shocked at the Electro fields, especially near the pillow area ! Hmmmmm?

Best, Mike
