Atrial Fibrillation in Athletes
Athletes with Atrial Fibrillation, or who are worried about developing it, may be interested in this vid (just out) where two very fit cyclists visited Glenfield Hospital in Leicester (where the British Heart Foundation have a MRI Facility) and get tested. There is then a good discussion on Atrial Fibrillation

newbie diagnosed with ectopic beats, but also paroxysmal atrial fibrillation
Had slow heart beat for 5 days with slight flutterings. Thought it was my Afib starting again. Had ecg at drs yesterday and was told it was ectopic beats. I’m not taking any medication , was on 2.5mg Bisoprolol as pill in pocket, but advised to stop it. It’s horrible, I have them all day,not sure why

A few weeks ago I mentioned that Dr Ohtsuka will be a panellist in an online (Zoom) discussion about AFib and the mini-maze procedure. The WO-MM (Wolf-Ohtsuka Mini Maze) is an adaptation of the Wolf Mini Mazem as performed at the NewHeart Watanabe hospital in Tokyo. Dr Wolf, who is a surgeon at Debakey

Slow irregular heartbeat?
Was diagnosed with arrhythmia last autumn, currently on edoxaban, flecanide and bisoprolol. About 20 hours ago my heart started beating irregularly, it is still slow (about 50 bpm) and seems to be missing a beat every 3/4 beats. NHS111 yesterday advised going to A&E where they did ECG and blood

Migraine on tapering
Just a quick question - I began DL's slow taper from 9mg to 8.5mg on Saturday 18/3/23 and suffered a migraine aura so took a sumatriptans tablet. Gradually recovered over the next couple of days. The second reduction to 8.5mg is today (22/3/23) and, again, I have had a migraine aura and taken sumatriptans

12 month follow up
Yesterday I had my 12 month follow up with cardiology.... after my 5th ablation in 2019. Only 4 years late. Though I'll have to live with the AF the rest of my life (I'm about to turn 41) the ablation was a success because when the episodes do hit I can stay out of hospital, they're not as debilitating

Berberine - does anyone have experience of taking this for PAF?
I’m going to have a pace and ablate in a few weeks time, so I started watching videos about it by the York Cadiologist (great guy!). On one of the videos I tripped across a comment where a chap said he had to stop taking Flecainide because of the adverse side effects (that’s me too!) and had started

Amazing
I just want to say that yesterday was an amazing day. We all have good and bad. My pacemaker was done on the 27th and I have had some good days and not so good. Yesterday I woke up really early and had energy all day. I walked with my dog around our property of almost an acre. A few weeks ago I could

First afib incident since dx 3 years ago
Have been taking Diltiazem 180 mg daily for 3 years without having any tachycardia till now. Days with HR 130-140 bpm. I think that it was caused by the stress due to the severe storm that caused many blowdowns (one on my house) loss of power, internet, and downed phone lines. Lots of worry, shoveling

My Home ECG reading? AF or Ectopics
As you may know from my recent posts Ive been having aweful time past 5 days with ectopics and palpitations. Ive been recording them and the photo attached is the typical of what Im having every minute of the day. I think overnight I went into sinus rhythm - I found a 2mg of Diazepam from years ago

Whatever happened to the pill in the pocket?
I have had paroxysmal AF for 10 years. When it happens I never know what to do, especially as I live alone. If it goes on for more than about 12 hours I seek help from 111, they send the paramedics who do an ECG and confirm the problem, but by the time I get to A&E it stops! I have asked for advice on

post partum thyroiditis
Long story short(ish)- in October I had a baby, in December I was diagnosed with post partum thyroiditis with an over active thyroid(tsh <0.01) then levelled out a few weeks later before going underactive (tsh 11) around March time. My symptoms came as the results went out of range so even though they

Post Ablation AFib episodes .. frustrating
I had my Ablation about 3 1/2 months ago. I did not have any AFib recurrence that I'm aware of during the blanking period and was taking a beta blocker, a rhythm med, and anticoagulant. Was a bit rougher blanking than expected with early fever, regular headaches and low energy etc but no AFib! Hooray

SOME ADVICE FROM YOU NICE PEOPLE
Hello everyone. I have an ablation on 2015 for AF and the results were perfect for 7 years, no medication and no limitations at all. Suddenly on Nov 2021 the AF returned, I was put on medication and FA was going on and of for all year 2022, then we decided to have another (2°) ablation on Novembre

Confused (like a lot of us!)
After an Afib episode when I ended up calling an ambulance, the cardio put me on Flecainide 2x50mg daily, without actually seeing me. It has worked (touch wood) and I no longer have Afib episodes. A friend who also discovered he had Afib was immediately sent for an ablation. My question is what makes

Atrial Flutter?
I had a very similar experience. About four weeks after my RF ablation my heart rate jumped from a very steady 60 to a very steady 135. ( I have an I CD that maintains my heart rate at 60) my EP called, said I was in atrial flutter, and did a cardioversion the next day to shock me back into a normal
