Human Rights Question re treatment for Ovarian Cancer
Today I shall be having lunch in the House of Lords' Dining Room with a researcher on disability. It's opened up the opportunity to pose a question that's long worried me. Ovarian Cancer is a disability. Treatment for this condition across the UK has become a post-code lottery and this became particularly

Avastin no longer working, next steps?

Chemotherapy has stopped working
I was diagnosed last year with NSCLC and completed 12, 3 weekly cycles of intravenous Pemetrexed, Carboplatin & Avastin chemotherapy. This proved very successful and stopped the tumour from progressing further. Due the success I was then placed on a maintenance programme using just Avastin and Pemetrexed

I keep getting lower abdominal pain, backache and groin pain although my cancer tumors have shrunk considerably
and I have finished my 2nd chemo treatment (recurred after 2010) I am on Avastin every 3 weeks and my consultant cannot find anything to cause these pains. Some days I have no appetite, extremely constipated and just have no energy to get out of bed has anyone else had these complaints. I was first

Avastin for 1st line treatment - NICE says no!

My mum is currently facing a second recurrence for stage 4 oc. She has been having maintenance on avastin since her chemo finished in august 2012 (gemcitabine/cisplatin) but unfortunately she has been having a few tummy pains and a ca125 test has shown it has gone from 72 to 277. We are waiting for

I have a temperature today
On Friday I had chemo, with Topotecan, Still waiting to hear whether I can have Avastin. Yesterday I felt great, but today I'm cold and shivery and ache all over. Temperature has gone up to 38 C. I'll keep an eye on it, and if still at 38 tomorrow I'll go back to the chemo unit. I feel so miserable and

Why I think Aspirin or Ibuprofen could give longterm remission
I am a retired GP. I was diagnosed with stage 3 PPC (on the ovarian cancer spectrum) in September 2009, and am now in my 2nd remission, since March 2011. From my own experience taking ibuprofen, and from my review of recent medical literature, I am convinced that patients with stage 3 and 4 ovarian

HRT or not
The consultant put me on hrt elleste solo and I'm using
ovestin
cream which are both oestrogen based. I am due my follow up in a couple of weeks time but I am now wondering whether it is wise to go down the hrt route in view of the risk of re-occurrence.

"NICE slaps down Roche's Avastin for ovarian cancer"

After the ecstasy and hope of being granted Avastin - the downside...
It has taken me months to write on this site again, because when I was finally granted Avastin back in April/May, I wanted to see how things went before reporting back on what I know is a subject so close to the heart to all of us, and I didn't want either to give unrealistic hopes or dash high expectations

gemcitabine with carboplatin for Platinum resistant
Hello, has anybody had experience of using gemcitabine with carboplatin for Platinum resistant recurrent cancer? I am now on my forth round of chemo, after having had taxol-carbo as front line treatment, followed by 6 months of remission (with bulking in between); followed by more taxol-carbo, that didn't
