Is Taking Casodex and Xtandi ok?
Husband started on Xtandi 2/3/18. He had orchiectomy but hid testosterone isn’t as low as the urologist would like so he suggested to add Casodex. I did a quick search and found no contraindications but wanted to check with the experts here. Thanks

Any benefit from metformin is proved
Dx 2015 APC with iliac lymph node involvement. Had RT, on lupron for 20 months, turned to CRPC seven months ago. Now on zytiga and Prednisone (5mg) for the last seven months. Had orchiectomy two months back. With zytiga, practically no side effects. I use to read all the posts in this forum for the last

Husband’s Unexpected diagnosis
My husband was diagnosed with stage IV 3 weeks ago. He was undergoing an MRI for what he thought was a ruptured disc. The “disc material” the doctor believed was impinging a nerve in his back turned our to be a tumor. PSA score of nearly 1,000 confirmed PC. He's 50, he chose to undergo the orchiectomy

Lupron versus Orchiectomy
Hello fellow travelers. I am 78 years old and dx in 2001 with PSA of 8. Don’t remember my Gleason score. Had external beam radiation that failed and have been on Lupron for about 15 years. My question to those who have opted for Ochiectomy, what is the advantages and would you do it again. Thanks

On Xtandi since 2/3/18 PSA holding
It was not the greatest doc visit today. First an hour behind.. Then got a PA not the MO. Then got PSA results the same 11.79 as a month earlier. I would say Xtandi is not working but she said as long as PSA isn’t rising they consider it successful. Is that true? This is a new to us MO office

Is Orchidectomy right for me?
I am considering surgical castration as an option to chemical treatment for PCa. I have been taking Lupron/Zytiga + prednisone for nearly a year. The results have been excellent--PSA undetectable--and I have grown used to the side effects, which, in my case, have not been unendurable. Still, I wonder

Visit to MD Anderson, Houston, if you want to consider a second opinion.
I was diagnosed mPC Apr2017, widespread bone mets, no lymph nodes or organs. Lupron, Chemo, then an Orchiectomy in Sept2017 to get off Lupron. Rescanned October, and all looked better, PSA 1.0. Follow up in Feb2018, PSA 6.71, now mCRPC, and been on Zytiga for 3 weeks. Offered a clinical trial at

PSA down after 3 weeks of Xtandi
Husband’s PSA down from 14.6 on 1/4/18 to 11.82 2/26/18. I counted over the past 17 years we have celebrated downward direction changes 7 times and I have recorded 56 PSA readings. He also received a 30 day Lupron to cover him until orchiectomy on 3/22. Remarkably he has no side effects except hot

Well, may be done with Chemo after 9 sessions.
PSA this time settled at 0.142 up from last one at 0.132 but less than the 0.148 time before. Plateau seems to have been reached and cumulative side effects are getting worse. Unless blood tests in three weeks show significant drop, we are done with Tatotere. Will continue Lupron and Xtandi for now

Fewer drugs after surgical castration? Upside? Downside?
Is Orchiectomy a durable cure? Does one continue on some form of ADT or wait until a rise in Testosterone and PSA? I admit my ignorance, so please be kind (thinking of Nala...et.al).

ADT or Orchiectomy
I was diagnosed for advanced prostate cancer with lymph node metastases in Nov ,2015. Since the time of diagnosis I am on ADT ( lupron) injections every three months. Four months back the disease turned to castration resistant. My M.O has added zytiga. But I have to still continue Lupron injections.

Treatment options for metastases post Radical Prostatectomy
Hi, I am writing on behalf of my father (Age: 65). My father was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2015, following which he underwent radical prostatectomy (2015), hormone therapy (2015), and radiation therapy (2016). This year his PSA level started rising and PET CT scan has revealed metastases in

Update after PET
On 22 Jan, the PET with Axumin isotope revealed numerous malignant lymph nodes near prostate a a few near my kidneys. I see my MO on Thursday. I see Dr Vijay Putel, a robotic surgical prostatectomy expert at a Florida Hospital on 3/31. Not sure now what my options are... already scheduled for a orchiectomy

ORCHIECTOMY OR ADT??
Having side effects from ADT. Hot flashes, no libido, penile shortening. Testicles now shrunk to size of a grape. I understand orchiectomy is simple and prosthetic silicone balls can be inserted for a good cosmetic ( and Manly) look. I have no hang up about castration since they have already done that

Supraphysiologic Testosterone Therapy for PCa. BAT.
New paper below. Full text is available. It is a lengthy paper, so I have included only a few extracts. Note: AR = Androgen Receptor. I knew I would like the paper when I read that testosterone [T] had a "biphasic" effect on PCa. The word appears 19 times. I came across that claim 13 years ago,

T Level at 30
What would you expect your T level to be 9 years after RA and 2 years after total orchiectomy?

Groin and leg pain and mini stroke
Eight years ago I had a left orchiectomy, which seemed to go well, and the following year I had a bilateral inguinal hernia repair. The surgeon caught one of my nerves (I think it was the femoral nerve) but I’m not sure, and he told me that it would eventually release it’s self. Sadly that has never
