omalizumab
Hi, has anyone tried the above injections. I have been approved for this as I have allergic asthma and EILO. I'm currently permanently on Prednisone as inhalers do not work for me and hoping with these injections to be able at some point come off Prednisone. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Anyone tried omalizumab to manage the pruritus?
Hi all, Is there anyone who tried
omalizumab
as a way to manage pruritus? It looks like was quite successful in a small study. https://www.google.ro/url?

Out of gas
Mepo, Benra and
Omalizumab
didn't work well enough to get me off steroids.I reckon I have had 60+ courses of steroids in the last eight years. My condition has robbed me of the ability to do what I used to do - hobbies are a distant memory. I work and sleep.

Unfortunately despite having mepolizumab, benralizumab and
omalizumab
I have had little relief - eosinophils and FeNo remain high. To have a normal (ish) life I need 50 mg of steroids a day - out of the question. After finishing on
omalizumab
I was uncertain what the hospital could do.

Adolescent son starting Mepolizumab
He has severe allergic and Eosinophilic asthma but his IGE is to high for
Omalizumab
to be used as his first biologic and as he is under 18 Mepo is therefore the only option at this stage.

Waiting for Omalizumab
Attended the hospital today - was given possibly my final shot of benra after being told I would be switched to
omalizumab
. The consultant explained that even after being given biologics and taking large doses of steroids my eosiniphils remain very high.

Long-term Steroid Use
As a side note: Finally got a start date for
Omalizumab
with my allergist at the end of September, so hoping it helps my asthma out too!

Extreme itch
Over the months I’ve been on all sorts of medication and now under hospital and have started
omalizumab
and had 2nd set of injections and continue to take 4 antihistamine daily. Although I remain optimistic I continue to suffer with the urticaria and extreme itch.

corticosteroid injections for treatment of severe persistent asthma
The main injections for asthma are: benralizumab (Fasenra)
omalizumab
(Xolair) mepolizumab (Nucala) reslizumab (Cinqaero) These medicines are not suitable for everyone with asthma and can only be prescribed by an asthma specialist.

Do I need to be more patient?
I’ve been diagnosed with serve allergic asthma on
Omalizumab
, Fostair 200/6 2bd & qvar 100 4 puffs twice a day, ventolin as required. On montelukast, carbocestine, fexodenadine, various nasal drops. Had a flare up two weeks ago & had to attend a&E twice despite having 40 mg prednisone for 5 days.

Biologics (mAbs) - what are they and how do they work? 🤔
OMALIZUMAB
/XOLAIR Xolair blocks the action of IgE which then hopefully causes less allergic reactions.

Omalizumab now off-Patent?
If any anyone knows if new
Omalizumab
Bio-similars are yet licensed for use in the UK, it would be good to here from you, with the drug’s brand name.

How long did xolair take to work for you?
Just wanted to do a quick poll for those of you on xolair (
omalizumab
)—how long did it take to kick in and start controlling your symptoms? I’m getting my sixth shot in a week but am still struggling. Thanks!!

Kenalog vs Omalizumab-pt2
After discussing it at the appointment on Thursday we decided to retest my blood to see if my IGE has fallen below 700 ( as currently at 780) if it has then I can start the
Omalizumab
. If it’s gone above 800 we’ll go with the Kenalog to bring it down and then move to
Omalizumab

Help! Kenalog vs Omalizumab
We finally had a plan, go to nhs England for
Omalizumab
if funding not granted go with Kenalog (steroid injection). Now I’ve been told, to get
Omalizumab
I need to lose 9kg before putting in an application for the funding. Or go straight to trying Kenalog. I don’t know what to do!

Finally getting somewhere!
He discussed desensitisation therapy and also the possibility of initiating
Omalizumab
treatment- this is where it gets frustrating. Unfortunately, I don't currently qualify for the treatment because I have not been prescribed enough courses of steroids in the last year....arghhhh!
