Harefield Lung Transplant
Hi, I am on the lung transplant list at QE Hospital Birmingham, but surgery there is still suspended and will be until June at the earliest. I am therefore going to be seen at Harefield in the hope I can go on their list. I’ve been on Birmingham’s list since July, but with no transplants since January

Scientists identify protein that could serve as a therapeutic target in lung cancer.
Scientists at VCU Massey Cancer Center have identified a protein that operates in tandem with a specific genetic mutation to spur lung cancer growth and could serve as a therapeutic target to treat the disease. Mutations in the p53 gene are found in more than half of all cancers, but it remains difficult

Keytruda and Guillain Barre Syndrome
After various false starts, it has been confirmed that the Immunotherapy treatment with Keytruda has been the cause of my GBS event in January. I'm off immunotherapy forever now. Just learned today that my lung tumor has grown and is getting close to my airway. Looking at possible radiation treatment

Lung transplant list
So today I learned my lung transplant journey has come to an end. My body has failed me whilst my mind is still breakdancing. An osteoporotic fracture in my spine is one risk too many for me to receive the gift of new lungs - it was going to be an already high risk operation due to my many complications

Immunotherapy alone extended life for metastatic lung cancer patients with KRAS mutation.
Real-word evidence is suggesting, for the first time, the most beneficial treatment courses that could help extend the lives of patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer, according to research from the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania. In a new study published online

Butterfingers! Feeling frustrated and poor.
I am dyspraxic, which means that I have always been extremely clumsy and have terrible executive functioning. With advancing age, my dyspraxia has also meant that I have also experienced increasing aphasia - I can often see/hear the word in my brain, it just doesn't make it to my mouth. Since being on

Researchers Identify Potential Targets for Novel Treatments for Lung Cancer.
Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer deaths, accounting for about a third of all tumor-related deaths. Adenocarcinomas, a non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), account for about 40 percent of cancer diagnoses, but few treatments are available for the disease. A team of investigators led by Elena

Level of chromosomal abnormality in lung cancer may predict immunotherapy response.
Patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose cancer cells have low levels of aneuploidy – an abnormal number of chromosomes – tend to respond better to immune checkpoint inhibitor drugs than patients with higher levels, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute researchers will report at the virtual AACR

Oxygen and Holidays
Hi, I know it’s possible to have a concentrator delivered to a holiday cottage. Can you tell me whether it is sometimes a problem with the cottage owners. I’m on the lung transplant list, but at the moment none are being done. I heard yesterday that it will be at least 2 months, until transplants are

Lung Cancer Livingroom. Where I found support and info early in my diagnosis.
In the scary, early days of a lung cancer diagnosis finding hope is difficult. Learning the language around lung cancer is overwhelming. Through the Lung Cancer Living Room I learned the stories of other patients and was educated by some of the best oncologists and researchers. This is the schedule

Does anyone have experience with Immunotherapy Atezolizumab?
Hi, I was diagnosed with LC stage 4 in Dec and had 3 cycles of Gencarbo which sadly did not have any impact. I have limited options available moving forward apparently as I have nsc squamous type cancer. Does anyone have experience that they can share with an immunotherapy called Atezolizumab please?

Chemo for lung disease
Morning, I’m due to start chemo for my lung disease in two weeks. Just wandering if anyone has had the six month treatment? I’m worried about feeling and been sick! Sadly my ct scan and lung function has shown a 15% decrease and addition scarring so really need to be strong and get on with it......

Update
Goid news and mixed up news . Oncologist rang to say bowel clear, liver spot melted away.,biopsy undefined at local source so sent to Nottingham. Most likely lymphoma. Whats happened to psoriatic?, I asked about lymphoma as I had no idea and he said he didn't deal with it but would transfer me ASAP.

A day of surprises
Hi all Yesterday I had the first face to face consultation since the pandemic. I must say I was wary of the reasons for this but went along anyway. The consultant reported that my blood tests results were unchanged and stable and the pegasys had reduced my spleen size by 0.7cm. He said that I am quite

Information for people in the UK on Tocilizumab (Ro-Actemra) injections
Hello, and apologies for not posting for such a long time. As one of the few (and greatly privileged) LVV-GCA sufferers in the UK lucky enough to have been prescribed subcutaneous Tocilizumab injections, I have a couple of items of news. First of all, along with my husband, I have been a participant
