Struggling after surgery
Hi guys, hope you are all managing as well as you can be. I had surgery last week, and man, it is kicking my butt. The surgeon repaired a massive hernia (12cm - the biggest he’d ever seen!) and did a partial fundoplication as well. I woke up delirious and disoriented, and they kept me in hospital 3 days

Anti-reflux surgery
I would be interested to know of peoples experience with anti-reflux surgery, such as partial or full fundoplication, LINX or stretta. Was it worth it? What is life like after the surgery? Any disadvantages? With thanks for your replies.

Failed (?) fundoplication after covid cough?
I had this all checked out and had a
Nissen
Fundoplication
in Feb this year as the hiatal hernia had grown significantly. All the symptoms resolved. Then I got covid in July this year and had excessive coughing for 7 weeks. All symptoms have returned.

The surgery is called a
Nissen
fundoplication
. The surgery was incorrectly done. In 2002 I had to have it redone. This time by best in US . in 2016 I saw a specialist surgeon at Barnes because it felt like surgery had come undone.

" Massive " Hiatal Hernia .
I wrote here a few week's ago because I am worried about my hernia especially after speaking to my Consultant who scared me to death! My hernia is 10 cms and the symptoms are getting worse. The Consultant said that they won't operate because it's too big and as I have had a Lobectomy due to lung cancer

An Update
Hi all I had manometry and PH studies late last week. Manometry indicated no peristalsis in the lower 2/3 of my oesophagus. Does anyone know what this is called? I don't think it is achalasia, I think the oesophageal sphincter is permanently open or at least without muscle tone. The Dr who performed

Hiatus Hernia
Hi all I am trying to 'join the dots' regarding my failing health and would appreciate any useful input. it's a bit of a saga - please bear with me. The last 15 months have been challenging, scary and at times plain ugly for this formerly active 61 yr old. Subsequent to heart ablation last July (see

Nissen Fundoplication:
I had a
Nissen
Fundoplication
in 2017 and I have been relatively good since surgery and have no reflux sensations, swallowing as been good 90% of the time but occassionally like the past few weeks, I'm eating and I can feel my food go past my wrap and sometimes hold up at the site with certain foods.

Hiatal Hernia & Gerd now worse due to SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth)
I have had a hiatal hernia and GERD for years. Took PPIs such as omeprazole for years but then developed SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth). PPIs can be a causative item for SIBO so I've gone off them. I beat the SIBO but it (I suspect) has come back and one of the symptoms is swelling which

Suffering from acid reflux? How to beat the symptoms
Did you know? There are over 65 Million people in the UK and it is estimated that over 1 in 10 people suffer from Reflux Disease. Reflux disease can have a terrible impact on a patients quality of life affecting many aspects of their everyday functioning. For many people, this can be managed effectively

Pains and diarrhea after lunch.
Hi everyone my problem is the diarrhea I get 1.5 hours after lunch. It's not every day can go 2 weeks then it happens couple of days in a row. I eat very bland no spices, sometimes just a sandwich sometimes a meal seems to make no difference. I had a colonoscopy which was fine. After going to the toilet

Anyone know current waiting times for endoscopy in UK?
I hoped that I would never have to have an endoscopy again - I had a 270 degree fundoplication and hiatus hernia repair 4 years ago, no acid indigestion since - but in the last couple of years I have suffered from a very dry mouth, sometimes a burnt tongue with loss of taste and sometimes a very stuffed

Advice for a guy with breathlessness and burping
hi all. I have posted on here before and received terrific answers. People asked for test results for certain vitamins and hormones which I am now able to provide. I have a lot more than I am giving here so any specific questions, please do let me know and I will supply them. I am in hell. I can't breathe

REFLUX IS A DISEASE, NOT A BAD MEAL CHOICE
Reflux (also called Gastro-Oesophageal Reflux Disease, or GORD) is caused by a weak muscle in your oesophagus called the Lower Oesophageal Sphincter (LOS). The LOS is your body's reflux barrier. Normally your reflux barrier acts like a one-way valve, allowing food and liquid to pass into the stomach
