Movicol

We were given movicol for our son with no guidance and it was only after finding Eric that I understood that he needed to be disimpacted.

My 11yr old has been discharged from hospital with overfill diarrhoea, she had the movicol regime to stick with which ended up with her having 14 bouts of diarrhoea and feeling faint, since getting an enima and now hasn't passed a lot since getting home, we have the movicol regime again to take, any

He’s been on des melts and is now on lyrinel XL which haven’t made a bit of difference, we’ve been on laxido, movicol and senna and still wet. His next follow up isn’t til September! Any tips?

I called my GP and I kind of guessed that it was because I must've been fairly backed up (I'd had similar mild pain before when I was constipated) and the GP told me to up my movicol to 4 sachets and add in some senna tablets.

I done a disimpaction regime with my son a few months which seemed to clear, he is on movicol and been advised to do a 4 sachet Maintenance dose per day.

We are in the middle of movicol treatment (10 sachets today). He is going to the loo but not as often as I thought he would. Should we be giving the sachets within a time limit or space it out over the day and there was some brown staining on his bed covers like tea is this normal?

GP doesn’t really provide much support apart from prescribing Movicol. We have watched the ERIC videos together and he understands that accidents aren’t his fault but I still struggle with getting him to be honest with me.

She is constantly in pain with her tummy, still in nappies due to overflow and when its time to go she is constantly straining which looks like she has an anal prolapse. she is on movicol & lactose daily and nothing is helping.

Hi my 2.5year old is very constipated on daily movicol for the last 6months and for the foreseeable. How do I go about potty training? Do I leave it until shes having more regular bowel movements or do I just try it?

I was presuming we’d be given movicol to clear the blockage,... but the doctor has prescribed this .... but when I quizzed about whether this would lead to the watery passing to you know the Clearout was done ... she didn’t seem to know, and if it’s not the case it makes it watery how will I know it’

I’ve been advised to increase my daughter to two sachets of movicol a day from one sachet. Do I give them together in one drink or give one twice a day? Plus any tips to get it into a 3 year old who will only drink milk and water?! Thanks all.

We tried disimpaction with movicol in May/June 2019 - 8 sachets a day for 5 weeks. This did not work and we were told to take her to A&E by the paediatrician because he was so concerned about her bloated tummy and that the movicol wasn’t working.

Not taking Movicol at the mo (have been previously but never achieved rusty tea)as I thought we'd wait until advice from paediatrician we have been referred to, however my 5yr old is still soiling, being funny about sitting on the toilet, though he did an enormous poo on the toilet yesterday.

We are now trying to get the right maintenance regime with a combination of movicol and lactulose and a further benefit is knowing the suppository is an option if we are in a desperate situation again, given the difficulty administering movicol.

For a long time my IBS has mainly caused problems with constipation to the extent that I usually take Movicol daily and sometimes need a glycerin suppository as well. During this current heatwave I have switched right over to diarrhoea mode - lots of loose motions and cramps.

I was advised to go home, and I would feel significantly better once I’d had my bowels open I was also instructed to take Movicol to get the whole process going. 8 sachets later and my bowel habit remained it’s normal self, I was not constipated at all.

We’ve had blood in pooh but samples all came back ok and she’s currently on Senna, pico and movicol but I just feel non of this works and she’s Constantly in pain but after a year now she’s learnt to live with it!
