My 11yr old has been discharged from hospital with overfill diarrhoea, she had the movicol regime to stick with which ended up with her having 14 bouts of diarrhoea and feeling faint, since getting an enima and now hasn't passed a lot since getting home, we have the movicol regime again to take, any tips on easiest way to get it in her, we need to change diet any tips please, hospital advised smoothies, any advice would be great on changing diet etc as I don't ever want to watch her go through this again!

Overfill diarrhoea
Fleet enema will help her go but you might want her to wear a drynites after as leaks can happen even after she has been to the toilet and it would at least be contained in a drynites but Pampere baby dry 8 would be better as she will be very loose for awhile after
As long as you mix each sachet up with the correct amount of water first you can add it to anything else afterwards, jellies, smoothies, gravy etc... You must make sure that she drinks plenty of liquid on top of the movicol as this does not count towards to daily allowance of fluid.
My son (also 11) found movicol didn’t work for maintenance. After doing disimpaction, we started him on fibre gummies! That was 2 years ago and, alongside a sitting routine, has worked! I thought maybe we didn’t need the gummies anymore until, during lockdown, we ran out and struggled to get any more as they come from the states. He started getting blocked up again and having accidents! Fibre gummies have saved the day here!
Can I get fibre gummies on Amazon.?
Did they do an x Ray to check the blockage was shifted? If you didn’t get to brown rusty water stage then the impaction may not be full cleared yet. How much movicol is she on daily? Is she on stimulant too?
Thanks for the tips, she is on the plan on movicol, we are up to ten a day and twelve a day as from tomorrow until we get this cleared, then maintenance plan once cleared, how do I know when it's cleared, they told me it should be like a tea colour😬
Yes exactly that- rusty colour water literally. (For a day or so pref). My experience has been that my son’s clear outs haven’t been complete and we’ve ended back at square one pretty quickly. Better to be absolutely sure you have achieved an absolute clear out and then taper the movicol down very gradually. I was always told to do the disimpaction and then drop down to 4 sachets, this is such duff advice. (From gastroenterologist as well). Better to drop down very gradually from 12 to find the right maintenance dose. Generally safer to stay high and reduce gradually.
