Persistent trace/low level protein in urine
Hi all I've had persistent trace or low level amounts of protein in urine tests since April -checked on 5 occasions at hospital. Sometimes there is also trace amounts of blood or white cells too. Is this something to worry about or just part of the disease? I get cystitis a lot, but doesn't necessarily

Fibroscan criteria
Hello Folks, I'm getting a fibroscan done on Tuesday, my first time. My doctor and specialist said they don't think I have anything as serious as cirrhosis, given that my last three ultrasounds done jn 2021, 2023 and August 13, 2024 all showed the same thing: grade 1 steatosis (mild fatty liver) with

I have spoken to my liver nurse who said I am on the cusp of liver cirrhosis, does then mean I have liver cirrhosis or still have fatty liver?

new med called Xphozah and it is great for phosphorous
Once I started dialysis, we could not get the phosphorous to go down. Now mind you, before dialysis, it was always over 5 most times or even over 5.5 and was at 5.8 before I started dialysis. Neph put me on a binder, sevelamer, did nothing, except block me up completely. Then we tried Velphoro, and

Wack a Mole and itching
Does anyone else who is on dialysis feel like they are the mole in the game called Wack-a-mole. It is the game where the mole pops out of a hole and you are supposed to bop him on the head and then he disappears only to pop up in another hole. That's dialysis to me. I am doing HHD. I am having terrible

Interesting Alzheimer's paper provides alternative explanation regarding the mode of action of monoclonal antibodies such as lecanemab.
"For decades, the prevailing theory in the field has stated that a protein made up of 42 amino acids called amyloid-beta 42 (Aβ42) hardens into clumps called amyloid plaques, and those plaques damage the brain, causing Alzheimer's disease." "Led by UC's Alberto Espay, MD, the team have hypothesized

PA and the Dentist
I have found someone who understand PA ! My new dentist. I have had PA since 2015 and this is only the second person. The other was a physiotherapist whose sister had it. I broke a tooth and had to see a different partner in the practice and told her I had PA and she said " oh dear, that is difficult

PSA rising
I had spot radiation in June for olio metastatic (2 spots), PSA was .036. In Aug PSA went down to .028. Now it’s .031. Does this mean the radiation of the 2 spots did not work? How long should I wait before ADT?

Fibroscan and Biopsy Showing Wildly Different Results
Really could use some help! So I've had yet another Fibroscan with the results showing the same as before, basically Level 0-1 fibrosis. Can someone please help reconcile those results with my recent liver biopsy showing Stage 3-4 advanced liver disease transitioning to cirrhosis? My hepatologist theorizes

SECuRE trial (Cu 67) advances: No dose limiting toxicities and strong preliminary efficacy data
It keeps being promising, but keep an eye also on Pb 212, which on paper should be even better for prostate cancer. After 2 cycles: "Early preliminary efficacy assessment shows a reduction in PSA levels following treatment in both participants who have completed the DLT period. In the weeks following

Sad & Scared
My husband began Docetaxel in July. At the time he PSA was 47. After treatments began his PSA progression was 47—32—18 We were so encouraged. After his 3rd Infusion today, his PSA went up to 19.2 I know it is only slight but yet not going downward. Does this mean he has potentially reached nadir

Hemin may be useful as prodrug for prostate cancer. It strongly induced caspase-3 activation, PARP degradation, and apoptosis in PC-3 cells
