Scientists working to understand why men with prostate cancer are at higher risk of Alzheimer's
Researchers at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University are searching for a better way to understand why many men with prostate cancer end up with Alzheimer's disease, and whether it's the standard hormone therapy treatment or an overactive immune response that actually contributes to the

Hello! My husband and I are waiting for his first Jevtana infusion. We learned today that his PSA jumped from 1.9 a month ago to 3.55 today (not had a high jump like that maybe ever?). Also learned he is castrate resistant. NP says Jevtana is the ‘med’ for this….sounds like his life is hinged on

Hi. My husband has decompensated cirrhosis. He is 69. He has been visiting St. James’s hospital in Leeds for quite some time for a transplant assessment. He has been trying unsuccessfully to get fit enough to be listed for a transplant. He suffers from HE regularly and really struggles to take lactulose

Masterful Overview of Dementia
Dr Robert Sapolsky just posted an authoritative and helpful talk on YouTube which looks at possible causes of Alzheimer's, prospective treatments, and practical steps to minimise one's risk.I found it a fascinating and entertaining video. It probably has some relevance to Parkinson's, but in any case

Good news after SBRT
My last PSMA pet showed an 8mm prostate tumor in my left lung. My PSA before the radiation was 1.06. 2 weeks after radiation the PSA is <.06. I'm seeing my MO tomorrow to see if he will continue to hold off on ADT. Any suggestion/recommendations? Thanks

Iron Induces Cell Death and Strengthens the Efficacy of Antiandrogen Therapy in Prostate Cancer Models, Cinical Cancer Research, 2020 Dec 1
The following paper from 2020 might be of interest to those using the antiandrogen bicalutimide as a major component in their treatment programs. Much has been made of cancer cell death by ferroptosis and from this first paper it seems probable that there is some potential synergy between iron supplementation

bloodshot eye and Graves
I got this today out of the blue. Going to have it checked tomorrow. I wonder if this is to do with Graves/TED? I’m currently on 2.5mg carbimazole.

Liver rebirth.
Have had a fatty liver for some years, doctors told me to lay off to allow the liver to recover. I have done dry January every year since 2013, but carried on drinking during the week in between. Recent blood tests (2024) showed high Gamma GT's (190iUL) and ALT's (81iUL) and a subsequent Fibroscan showed
