Dr Robert Sapolsky just posted an authoritative and helpful talk on YouTube which looks at possible causes of Alzheimer's, prospective treatments, and practical steps to minimise one's risk.I found it a fascinating and entertaining video. It probably has some relevance to Parkinson's, but in any case I am going to ask him to take a similar look at PD.
Sapolsky is a Stanford professor specialising in neuroscience, endocrinology and primatology, apparently, so no lightweight!
One thing I find a little surprising is that Robert Sapolsky has done many videos and he has even posted some of his lectures so it is puzzling why he has never done a video on Parkinson's but if you look on youtube you will notice that he seems fairly preoccupied with criminal behavior and free will . There is a video of Robert Sapolsky with Alan Alda which you might think would possibly be about Parkinson's but that is not the case. It is on criminal behavior.
Thank you for sharing this. Maybe I'll write to him and ask him to do an info interview about PD. Sapolsky is mostly focused on empathy and social structures. Has written some really indepth books on human behavior, and knows a ton about brains.
