Questions to those who have gone through peri-menopause
OK, so I would like to ask all of you who have gone through this and experienced the well-known problems...how did it all start for you??? I am asking because, for the past four or so months, I have had the impression a lot of things have changed and I have completely lost control. Since May, I am sweating

symptoms returning after total hysterectomy?
Hi Just wondered if anyone else has experienced a return of symptoms after a total hysterectomy? I had my hysterectomy in Jan 2015 and recently I have had increasing pelvic pain, bloating, terrible low back ache, general fatigue and lethargy/'heaviness'. Not sure whether I have IBS or the dreaded endo

Estrogen dominance vs deficiency (long post!)
OK, so this subject is getting more and more interesting to me, especially since I've been on both estrogen and progesterone (both natural) for the past five and a half years, and it's often recommended you don't stay on them for more than five years or the risk of breast cancer among other things increases

estrogen and progesterone - would love to hear about other patients' experiences
I don't know if it' OK to discuss other things than thyroid disease and treatment here but, since all hormone imbalances are related, I hope it's at least all right to ask the question (hoping that, if it's not OK to discuss it here, at least those who have some answers would be willing to PM me): Lately

oral vs dermal progesterone?
After receiving my latest lab results, I have a question about the efficacy of oral vs dermal progesterone (all the so called Hertoghe doctors prescribe Estrogel only, as that is said to spare the liver, but some, like my doctor, will put you on progesterone pills Utrogestan). These were my lab results

question to those who have stopped using estrogen
I would really appreciate hearing about other women's experience in this area. I stopped using Estrogel (bioidentical estrogen cream) a month ago, perhaps foolishly, after reading over and over again (not so much here as elsewhere) that no woman should ever use E for more than five years, or there is

how to know if I'm estrogen dominant or deficient...?
This is not directly thyroid-related but I hope it's OK to post this question here anyway, hoping that someone will know more about this: I have been asking myself a lot of questions lately about estrogen deficiency vs dominance. The symptoms seems confusingly similar in many cases....five years ago,

estrogen...good or bad?
This is something I have been meaning to ask here for a while: I read recently that adrenal fatigue is bound to cause estrogen dominance as the body will use progesterone to make cortisol when the adrenal glands begin to struggle, and this in turn will lead to estrogen dominance. All the so called Hertoghe

natural vs synthetic sex hormones
This is not thyroid-related but at least hormone-related so I hope it's OK. The so called Hertoghe doctors insist you should not use synthetic estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone, but always use natural hormones. They also say you need to take them for life, whereas most mainstream doctors believe

HRT post hysterectomy
Hi All, Looking for some advice on HRT. I am now six weeks post op, having had a full hysterectomy and bowel surgery due to endo. My consultant currently has me on patches and a top up of estrogel as I was still getting hot flushes now and again. I know it's early days and I'm completely new to all

estrogen deficiency symptoms?
I hope it's OK to ask a question unrelated to the thyroid here. About four weeks ago, I decided not to use Estrogel, which my hormone doctor put me on five years ago, along with bio-identical progesterone (Utrogestan, 200 mg, at bedtime day 15-25 of cycle; Estrogel is to be applied to thighs, stomach

Estrogen and progesterone - how long can you safely use them?
This is only remotely thyroid-related, but I hope it's ok to ask this question here anyway: Should you never use estrogen (Estrogel) for more than five years? And what about progesterone? I am referring to the bio-identical versions of both hormones. I am asking because I was put on Estrogel (transdermal
