Levofloxacin

I visited my doctor, who prescribed me levofloxacin for a suspected Haemophilus influenzae infection, which was present in my culture from earlier tests. Despite completing a 15-day course of antibiotics, my symptoms did not improve.

For treatment I have used ciprofloxacin, amikacin, nitrofurantoin, levofloxacin (but there was resistance to it), Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, trimethopin, fosfomycin.

With levofloxacin the symptoms get better a bit but I still have to force myself to pee. During ejaculation I also see a fluid come out but it was very transparent, not yellow or green like in gonorrea . It has no color. Now let's say that that burning feeling almost went away.

I finished the O in May 2023 but continued with the V, levofloxacin and acyclovir for the rest of the year and my blood counts were good and neutrophils count was good. My blood tests in Dec were all normal and my oncologist had me stop the V in mid-December 2023 and the levofloxacin.

I had HIB in April and given Levofloxacin as Doxycycline won’t shift my HIB. Think I had HIB in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2023. During the pandemic I was largely indoors! Also on 6 months antibiotics Oct to Mar.

I did a process of elimination, went on levofloxacin for 7 days for suspected sinus infection, went away for two weeks, and it came back with a vengeance and since stopping symbicort on March 3rd, I’ve never had the stabbing headaches or migraines since.

I feel like I’m starting to improve after seeing a local doctor (who prescribed levofloxacin, Prednisolone, pulmiben, kestine, avamys and upping my Fostair to 8 hourly). I’m curious, having not been prescribed prednisolone before, how the pred prescription compares to any UK protocols?

My doc suspected a bacterial infection before and He told me to have levofloxacin after culture I have aspergillosis and he gave me itraconazole for that. I took the morning dose of levofloxacin but after checkup he told me to stop it.

Hi everyone! My husband was prescribed Leaquin after stent replacement. I forgot the equal antibiotic that you all recommended and tried to ask the doc but he looked at me like I was just plain old stupid! Feeling tired and frustrated, sitting here with this prescription in my lap. Thankyou to all

Anyway I kept taking levofloxacin along with my asthma meds. 5 days of it over and my fever still didnt go. But the report of sputum culture did come. Boom! Pseudomonas again. And heavy growth like that of 20 days ago.

My doc said these were a type of fungus that are present in our normal flora, the reason that levofloxacin didnt work for me. He prescribed sporanox 200mg/day for two weeks. Does this mean I have ABPA? Lastly I want to thank the whole community for their support. You guys are a relief.

Completed 14 days triple therapy course of Amoxcilline 1g x2, Levofloxacin 500mg x2 and Dexilant 30mg x2 per day. 

I sent a query to the cardiology team, and they just said both Clarithomycin & Levofloxacin should be safe as I have no pro-arrhythmic conditions.

just writing on here to ask for some advice… I’ve been prescribed 2 antibiotics after I did a stool sample and I’m unsure on how to take them as I’m worried since 4 antibiotic tablets sounds Like too much to take a day I know when taking metronidazole I leave 8 hours between them but unsure of the levofloxacin

Been on antibiotics (Levofloxacin) for 2 weeks followed by a treatment for yeast infection. I was on 20 mg of prednisone, 200 mg of hydroxchloroquine and 100 mg of imuran at that time, yet I am experiencing the fever. My prednisone was returned to 15 mg daily.

My husband been given levofloxacin 500mg twice a day for stenotrophomonas pseudomonas. He has had a lot of different antibiotics to no avail. This seams a high does as the normal for this is 500mg once a day. The respiratory team did get blood test done to see if ok to take .

Type II often acts as a target for antibiotics, including fluoroquinolones (FQ), a common group of antibiotics that comprises levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, and others. Unfortunately, bacteria easily acquire resistance to FQs through mutations in topoisomerase-encoding genes.

So he took antibiotics levofloxacin for 1 week+ flomax for 3 months. No improvement..... the culture urine showed for the infection to use bactrim less stronger than the first antibiotic.

I wonder if anyone can answer this, I was in hospital a couple of years ago and was given Levofloxacin and within no time I couldn't walk, I was very scared! it appears the drug had affected my achilles tendon. Of course I was told it couldn't be the drug!!
