Hey All!
A little bit of background on me. Early October I was infected with COVID-19, I’m 4 times vaxxed, and while it was only two days of symptoms, I ended up with SOB on day 3 which later turned into Long COVID. I was prescribed Flovent and Salbutamol by the ER Doctor, my NP then prescribed me Symbicort and I’ve been on that until early March. I had to get off it b/c of the serious side effects it was causing over a period of one month, stabbing headache above my left eye which felt like an aneurysm and constant migraines in the same area. I did a process of elimination, went on levofloxacin for 7 days for suspected sinus infection, went away for two weeks, and it came back with a vengeance and since stopping symbicort on March 3rd, I’ve never had the stabbing headaches or migraines since.
So, I started taking Singulair (brand name) on Saturday, March 11th at night after my Symbicort started giving me migraines and bad sinus headaches after 5 months and being off it for a week before starting the Singulair.
My NP prescribed me Singulair and Bricanyl to use as a maintenance plan instead.
Anywho, I woke up Sunday a brand new person, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were great! I then woke up on Friday with a sore throat which I never get!!! Saturday sore throat still, which dissipated later on in the day/evening, I also had chills, sneezing fits, cough and a headache. Today (Sunday) I’m feeling much better but my Apple Watch has been monitoring my heart rate since Friday (39 percent high resting), Saturday (68 percent high resting) and today so far (89 percent high resting).
P.s. Friday night I used Brinanyl inhaler 1 puff before bed and Saturday, instead of using Bricanyl, I used Flovent 1 puff before bed because the sneezing and coughing was getting on my nerves.
I know it’s an adjustment period toward the Singulair, but man, it hit me hard after a few days being on it, which were the best days of being able to breathe again. Also, I’ve been testing my Peak Flow and FEV1 since and they’ve been coming back as great results.
Fingers crossed that I got over the flu like symptoms side effects, but the million dollar question, why did it take a few days for side effects to kick in, when I was doing really good for the first 4-5 days?
