Off the Ropinirole Now What!!
I called my Neurologist this morning and he took me off the ropinirole (I was taking 3mg 3 times a day) He just said quit taking them and he changed my carbidopa/
levodopa
to 2 pill 3 times a day instead of 1 1/2 4 times a day.I am very leary of this change, I have down time as it is with lots of tremors

By bypassing the dopamine system altogether, a glutamate-based treatment could provide the same symptomatic benefits of
levodopa
while avoiding disabling side effects such as dyskinesia (uncontrollable movement). The Vanderbilt team has focused on a specific glutamate receptor called mGluR4.

For all that want to know what Michael J Fox new drug regimen is here you go.
This is not the first time Michael has publicly discussed his personal experience with the drug amantadine, which, while not an approved treatment for dyskinesia, is commonly prescribed off-label to address the disabling side effect of long-term
levodopa
therapy.

THE MORE YOU DO THE MORE L-DOPA NEEDED ???
I told my neurologist that my Madopar did not last as long if i was busy in fax a lot less . Neuro said that is don't work like that. Having thought about it I think he wrong. IF the neuro is rite and its a big IF .Why do we get less L-DOPA at night or. when we are at rest . That is my ARGUMENT.

Has any one had problems Breathing ?
My PDN is telling me that my breathing problems has nothing to do with PD. Which may be so, But if its not the PD it must be the meds. PDN says see GP. Which I did ,GP says that oxygen 98% and any thing over 90% in the blood is fine and can't find any thing wrong. I read that L-dopa can effect

Home made carbidopa-levodopa syrup
I had a hour long session with my MDS Neuro yesterday. The bulk of the time was discussing dbs. He did mention a technique of grinding up the c-l dopa and mixing with water making a syrup to be sipped through the day.... the idea is to smooth out the on off dyskinesias. Anybody try this?

Let me share my essay on Living with Parkinson's
I remember the day I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. My reaction was not one of resignation, nor did I come to the knowledge I had this incurable disease with fear or trepidation. The very first, initial reaction I had was relief. Yes, relief. "That's it? That's all I have, Parkinson's disease

Low carb diets and PD?

Help! Please!
Since going on carbo
levodopa
he has gotten worse. The first neurologist upped his dose quickly. The second lowered it. The third, a movement disorder specialist said she would very slowly raise it. He has been seeing her since the end of November.

Sinemet best practice - take a tablet when you feel you need it or stick to 3 times a day and be uncomfortable.
I have started taking 5 a day and then add in Sinemet CR 25mg
Levodopa
at night to try and get some sleep. If RLS kicks in it can take up to 2 hours + to get back on track! Am I heading for problems in the future by doing this? I can't stick the discomfort it gets me down.

Interesting response to my PD symptoms
I started
levodopa
shortly after she came to me. As always, adjusting the medications was a challenge. I began to notice that Lily would "bite" me when it got close to the time for my next dose. She also would "bite" when I was feeling really tired.

Do you experience "wearing off"?
If you are taking carbidopa/
levodopa
you most likely have experience "wearing off". Have you ever experienced a time when you felt a "wearing off" at an unpredictable time and if so did you panic or suddenly "freeze"? Was there a reason why you felt that "wearing off" feeling? Jupiterjane
