How to estimate the short-term benefit of carbidopa/levodopa
One of the common symptoms of PD is bradykinesia (slow movements). You might, for instance, type more slowly when you are "Off", rather than when you are "0n". A good measure for bradykinesia is the side-to-side tap test. In this test you sit at a computer keyboard and, using just the index finger of

Insulin & glucose in Parkinson's / Ketogenic lifestyle
hi, I am finding that the effect of glucose or insulin has quite an effect on mobility. Before, it seemed that protein alone would interfere with L-Dopa. Now it's not only that, but post-prandial somnolence that can lay me down for hours. Come the next day, I can pretty much lead a "normal" day (with

Can Levodopa Contribute to Gut Dysbiosis via Increased Gut Inflammation and More Dysbiosis? The Study Below Suggests It Can
In this 2021 study they showed through fecal DNA of 107 PwP that
levodopa
and especially
Levodopa
/Carbidopa Intestinal Gel (LCIG) are associated with an inflammatory microbiome.

FDA OKs Phase 2 Trial of Oral NE3107 in Easing Inflammation
It aims to enroll 40 patients, ages 30 to 75, who are taking
levodopa
at 400 mg or more daily but have a history of motor fluctuations and “reliable” early morning “off” periods — a state in which
levodopa
is no longer working and symptoms, such as tremors, rigidity, and slow movement, are re-emerging

The Uric Acid Failure: Lessons Learned
Let us consider the fact that many Parkinson's patients use
levodopa
, and the more severe the Parkinson's the more
levodopa
is used. Protein interferes with absorption of
levodopa
, so patients using
levodopa
tend to avoid ingesting protein at the same time.

Video on the microbiome and how it relates to PD. Also, recruiting for (remote) trial.
Spoiler: one of the trials is investigating if a certain bacteria, which is already known to metabolize
Levodopa
, is possibly causing the "OFF" periods we all know and don't love? They have an antibiotic that targets the bacteria. It would be wonderful if it works!

DBS Induced Dystonia

What do I do now?
I am wondering if it would be better for my hand tremor to be on Cardopa/
levodopa
and maybe Rasaligine. Pramipexole helps a little at .5 mg 3x daily. Any insight or advise is appreciated greatly.

B1 overdose?
'On time' from
levodopa
has decreased. I'm having much trouble walking. There have been no other supplements added during this time. Does this sound familiar to those who have tried the HDT with this form of thiamine?

RLS Improving, Insomnia Worsening
Tried
Levodopa
but it didn't help with sleeping. Since mid-Sept he has been on 25 mg. Trazodone for insomnia taken at 7 p.m. which he has slowly increased to 50 mg. in the past two weeks. Bottom line: RLS somewhat under control, but insomnia is killing him.

Levodopa‐Induced Neuropathy: A Systematic Review
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6384168 Conclusions Over one third of PD patients in treatment with l‐dopa may develop PNP, with a significantly higher prevalence of acute and subacute forms in those receiving LCIG. Pathogenic mechanisms remain unclear, but possibly related to a complex

I take 25mg/100mg carbidopa /

CR. I have been adding 200mg of B1 in the last 18months. My family noticed a great improvement in my limited speech and movement. I have no problem cognitively following conversations and adding a few words when they choose to come and engage.
