Levodopa incidence

“In conclusion, our results are relevant to current practice. It is reassuring that early levodopa initiation and appropriately maximal tolerated dose do not appear to predispose to major, disabling dyskinesia.”

I am going to start sinemet this week. I'm currently taking 1000mg b1.Please advise how I should take the sinemet and b1 thanks

in reply toSmittybear7

Sinemet is costly. Replace with carbidopa levodopa. Take three times a day.

B1 as thiamine hcl is best advised through the Facebook group

Dr. Costantini said that all PD meds are compatible with B1 and can be taken together and he was a proponent of using the combination to achieve the best symptom relief.

I thought it was always said that c/l usage would always lead to dyskinesia

in reply toNitro53

That did not change.

TREMOR vs. levodopa

The other day I reduced my l-dopa from 16 tablets daily to 10 tablets.

Impression is reduction of tremors and better sleep.

October 23 - 8 tablets

I have read articles suggesting that the incidence of levodopa induced dyskinesia typically increases at the rate of 10% per year (10% after 1 year; 30% after three years; 50% after five years, etc., but, as always, the incidence and severity vary from person to person. Here's a brief excerpt from a simple Google search:

"It has been estimated that the annual incidence of levodopa-induced dyskinesia is approximately 10% in treated patients. However, at least 10% to 20% of patients with levodopa-responsive PD never develop dyskinesia."

In the study that Roy linked to, 30% got dyskinesia. Here is the quote:
