Transitioning off Pramipexole for RLS
Instead he gave me a prescription forCarbidopa-
Levodopa
to be used wth Pram. After I got home, I looked up the side effects of C-L and was dismayed to find that one of the side effects is insomnia. Insomnia is already one of my problems, and I certainly don't want to make that even worse.

Levodopa and magnesium oxide

Another way to view and treat Parkinson's?
Providing nutrients to increase dopamine in a natural way instead of giving
Levodopa
?Almost the entire population is deficient in magnesium, zinc, all the vitamins of the B group, etc. Even more so in Parkinson's patients before any antiparkinsonian treatment.

Herbal remedies
Hi All, has anyone had any feedback or tried various natural remedies. A friend of mine recommended Muccuna l dopa capsules and Tumeric root extract capsules to help with rls. Only started taking these for a few weeks so no real progress yet. Just want to come off the prescribed medication. Currently

Transitioning off pramapezole
Instead he wanted me to use Sinemet (carbidopa-
levodopa
, 25-100 mg) and suggested an 8-week schedule for gradually replacing the pramipeole with Sinemet. That went very smoothly, and I finished the routine just 3 days ago.

Allergic Reaction to Sinemet?
I posted previously that after being on Pramipexole for over 30 years, I, at the direction of my PCP, completed about 2 weeks ago a transition over an 8 week period from P to Sinemet (100 carbidopa-200
levodopa
).

Is your Parkinson's diagnosis really idiopathic? Or is there an underlying cancer/autoimmune disorder?
Further study is needed to elucidate the role of dopamine depletion in tremors associated with gammopathies. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34984123/ Some people will respond well to
levodopa
-carbidopa treatment.

Call for a more complete vitamins blood testing, especially b6.
The B6 necessary for
levodopa
to do its job is broken down by the equally indispensable carbidopa component, resulting in insufficient dopamine production. Moreover, a too low B6 level ( just like too high!) is extremely harmful and can cause irriversible neuropathy.

video: Low-dose ketamine produces long-term reduction in levodopa-induced dyskinesia
https://youtu.be/4sygods1Txk Preclinical data has previously suggested that low-dose ketamine treatment has short-term antiparkinsonian activity and can reduce
levodopa
-induced dyskinesia in the long term after an initial 10-hour total treatment.

Parkinson’s and eyes
Naïvely I am wondering whether there is a
levodopa
connection, i.e. I am more on after several doses during the day. I do notice that sometimes my eyes are quite blurry but I’m thought this might be down to amantadine, but was told probably not by the optometrist.

Parkinson’s and Protein
The problem is that because
levodopa
is an amino acid, it competes for absorption with other proteins. This is why eating a meal high in protein could reduce the likelihood of your body efficiently absorbing
