how much levodopa is normal?
I’m 7 years in to this fun ride. Mostly I’d say I’m doing ok. I’m tremor dominant bilateral now. I do have rigidity and slowness as well when off. I’d say that when I’m medicated well, people wouldn’t know I have PD and I feel pretty normal. I’m taking C/L 25/100 5-6 x per day. (2.5-3hrly) Would this

Switch in generic medication
The article linked below describes a PwP who had his medication switched from brand name (Sinemet) to generic carbidopa/
levodopa
(C/L) and how this exacerbated what had previously been well-controlled Parkinson's symptoms.

Ketogenic Diet Parkinson's
It has been found, however, that when using
levodopa
together with a ketogenic diet, the results can be far more favourable than those of the treatment with the drug alone (through an improvement of its bioavailability) [187,188,189].

FUS PTT in Switzerland - 2 years update.
However, maintaining these doses of about 500 mg of
levodopa
daily with this time of illness continues to be a victory, as my neurologist says, I carry medication samples, especially compared to other people who take up to 200 mg every 2 hours from waking up to going to sleep.

Long term L-dopa Use Shortness of Breath
Just found out that L-dopa reacts to oxidizing agents. Some bottled water has oxidizing agents. Taking l-dopa with the bottled water or after using toothpaste or mouthwash might be contributing to shortness of breath. Anyone else experience this?

Parkinsonism and cervical spinal cord injury
The plan is to start him on a low dosage of
Levodopa
(this coming week) and increase gradually in the hope we see some improvement which will confirm PD diagnosis.

HDT more or less
Currently I'm on
levodopa
and entacapone, taking meds at several intervals /day. As meds wear off before it is time for the next dose, I'm experiencing EXTREME fatigue. It's nearly impossible to stand or move. The fatigue comes on rapidly.

Restless "Legs" in Legs, Arms and now even Hands and Feet - Or is it really Restless Legs ??
I used Restex (which contains
LevoDopa
) from 2018-2023 and added 150mg Pregabaline in 2019 and was fine with that medication, when it spread I had to totally change the medication to 2400mg Gabapentine and 200mg Tilidin each day, for the new situation I think I have to change the medication again, in

Levodopa may slow progression
There has been much concern that
levodopa
hastens the progression of PD. Many studies have found this not to be the case.

Success with Adderall dependence and changing medications?
Anyone have any luck changing medications while dependent on Adderall? If so, how did you do it and what if any supplements did you use? Even if it was just quitting altogether, that can be helpful too. I am not addicted, but I am definitely dependent on Adderall. Like many others. The chance to stop

Apokyn concerns
My Parkinson’s was under control with carbidopa/
levodopa
50-200, and pramipexole 1.5mg. But the anxiety and stress over my husband negated the medication. So my neurologist put me on Apokyn. I found it worked first thing in the morning but that was it.

Trial of Deferiprone in Parkinson’s Disease (Iron Chelation) Complete: Looks like it made PD worse...
Conclusions:
In participants with early Parkinson’s disease who had never received
levodopa
and in whom treatment with dopaminergic medications was not planned, deferiprone was associated with worse scores in measures of parkinsonism than those with placebo over a period of 36 weeks.

Health update
If you haven't tried medication, have the patient take Carbodopa
levodopa
ER 25-100. Start with 1 tablet per day and increase based off of the communication of symptoms. As you should know this is important, especially the mental health side effects.
