Light Therapy for PD

Greetings to you all. I have a question about light therapy. What is the latest research showing? I’m a little overwhelmed by the number of different devices out there, and particularly the different frequencies that are being recommended… 810, 1070, blue light… etc! Can anybody give me some advice on the best way to go, or possibly recommend a good resource? So far, I’m only doing levodopa, but I think it’s time for me to take the next step in my self care. Thanks for your kindness. 🙏

here is what I use.

wellred.com.au/

it’s completely fixed my sleeping issues, helped with depression and gait.

It has 2 settings, 12 minutes each , then turns off, I use at before bed and right after waking. I also bought the nasal attachments that shines light on the basal ganglia.

Thank you so much. Do you do the nasal attachment as well?

yes, I think that’s especially helpful because of where the light shines, right where Parkinsons is located in the brain.

I also use the Wellred light therapy (including the Coronase attachment). The company is excellent to work with. Shipping to the US was flawless and their customer service is excellent. I had several questions when I was setting it up and I had a few questions along the way and they are very good about responding to my inquiries. I’ve struggled with severe sleep issues for many years but am now sleeping a solid 6 or 7 hours (compared to 3 or 4 at best). I also purchased the pad which I use for areas where I have chronic pain ( back and shoulder) and it has helped. Results with me were not immediate. In fact, I had nightmares and vivid dreams initially which was something I had never experienced - I did not have REM sleep. I interpreted this as doing something - even if it were negative but I kept it up and within 2 months that resolved. I went from zero REM sleep to 41 minutes last night and 7 hours and 16 minutes of total sleep (according to my watch). This pattern is life changing for me personally. My tremor (right side dominate) is minimal. It’s hard for me to say my marked improvement is strictly associated with the red light therapy because I have concurrently made adjustments in some of my meds and supplements such as B-1 and Curcumin and more diligent with exercise. One thing I can say with certainty is it has improved my mental acuity. I call it my super power because immediately following therapy I start back working on cold fusion and Einstein’s quantum riddle. Okay, truthfully, it’s actually Wordle, Jumble, Crosswords and Jeopardy but previously, simple puzzles may as well have been quantum mechanics. All the best, Z.

What about one of the other devices that emits the wavelength 1070? Have you heard of that at all?

I dunno ? I know at least one of studies use this protocol, so I go with that.

Can you please elaborate on how this helped your gait? Did you have freezing gait or dragging, etc? Thanks for sharing

More foot drag, I don’t freeze. My gait is my worst symptom.

We have recently been introduced to information regarding the iTeraCare(TM) Wand for Consumers, have any of you heard anything about this product? It also has infrared. I’m just now looking into it but you all seem to have excellent search capabilities.

I have stiffness in my back and legs from exercise if I over do it and get fast relief. I have not yet followed the protocall.

my husband who is the one with PD. He was a band director for 36 years for grade school and junior high and plays all instruments. Also has been playing accordian since 9 yrs old. Since his diagnosis 7yrs ago his music keeps his symptoms moving slower than most. Keep moving and playing music push push push.

The search 🔍 function on this site is very helpful.

Thank you Jim. I actually have used that function before, but this higher wave length seems pretty new I guess,, and I didn’t see too much on here about that issue specifically. That’s why I figured I’d check and see if someone had some insights they could share. I’m kind of a newbie 😇

i am Canadian and bought the wellred helmet with the Vielight intranasal unit. Then the coronase was available and bought that too. It’s easier to use with the helmet and uses the same frequencies as the Vielight

I am using Symbyx helmet and handheld for gut. There are good research results including a recent Random Controlled trial (RCT) with encouraging results. Bruce

Thanks! How long have you been using it, and do you notice any easing of symptoms ?

Does everyone who uses the red light therapy use the helmet or does anybody use the panels that stimulate the whole body and claim to have more powerful lights with extra frequencies?
