Prebiotics + Probiotics. Probiotic production of thiamine, riboflavin and folate. Constipation. Aspiration pneumonia & botanical oil.
Here are several different articles about prebiotic and probiotic(s) (possibly in combination with each other). And the final article relates to PwP oral infestation with gram negative bacteria and aspiration pneumonia. 1) Fenugreek as adjuvant therapy with L-dopa First of all, Fenugreek has been shown

5-HTP in patients not taking Sinemet can worsen symptoms of PD
According to The Clinician's Handbook of Natural Medicine 5-Hydroxy-l-tryptophan (5-HTP) is beneficial only if used in combination with the drug Sinemet (a combination of l-dopa and decarboxylase inhibitor carbidopa). Brain serotonin is decreased in PD, but reduction in dopamine receptors is more severe

Tired of not being hungry.
Does anyone have a trick for overcoming the total loss of appetite that I have as a side effect of the
levodopa
/carbidopa? I've lost 40 pounds but don't worry, I have a lot left to more than sustain me for quite some time. I just miss eating.

Levadopa "challenge" for CBD/PSP/Parkinson's?
Hi all, Did your neuro do a levadopa trial at any point in diagnosis? Did it always turn out that the l-dopa did not help if it was CBD or PSP? My husband is just starting a one-month trial where he takes increasing doses of levadopa every week for a month, to help determine if he has Parkinson's or

Is it true? Alcohol and/or Marijuana open BBB blood brain barrier?
Our nurse manager says alcohol (as does medical marijuana) opens the BBB (blood brain barrier) allowing
Levodopa
through for better effectiveness. One has to wonder: WHY don't doctors TELL US, so that we can use this to our ADVANTAGE??

The Good and Bad
Bit of a long post... My dad has had Parkinsons for several years now, started with a left hand tremor which has progressed to slow movement, some shuffling (though not as bad as some), and stiffness. The neurologist has had him on Pramipexole, Rasagaline, and Kemadrin for the last few years. Unfortunately

Grinding Carbidopa hallucinations
I decided to grind his pills including the time release Carbidopa 50/
levodopa
200mg. I started doing this about three weeks ago. At approximately the same times he started to "see" things in our home along with not knowing where he is. Could this be the result of the grinding the pills.

Anyone else not helped by dopamine agonists?
As I am still fairly young for Parkinsons (soon to turn 65) my neurologist is reluctant to put me on too much
levodopa
too soon, preferring to give me more dopamine agonists.

PD drugs accelerate disease progression
quotes - "All along PD progression brain produces less and less dopamine. Since l-dopa inhibits dopamine production it accelerates deficiency and patient becomes addicted to l-dopa. At this stage brain will never produce dopamine again." - "Since PD is not understood, its treatment actually accelerates
