I was diagnosed close to a year ago. I take pramipexole and carbidopa/levodopa. I suddenly have depression.. This happen to anyone else?

I was diagnosed close to a year ago. I take 1.5mg pramipexole daily and 25/100 3 x daily carbidopa/levodopa. I suddenly have depression.. Has this happened to anyone else? Thank you kindly for replies.

I was diagnosed last year ,too, but I think I have it for a while. Yes, I had depression till I figured out what I have and accepted it. I do not take c/l yet even I have it in my drawer; instead I started exercising and on 3.24.18 I started 2 g a day of Thiamine HCL; starting few days ago I already noticed some improvements (more energy, no anxiety and depression, lower tremor).

Both of your meds can cause depression. Do you have depression all the time or in spurts. If not all the then when and how long. i have had depression off an on for the last 12 years hard to deal with. It last only for a hour or two mostly in the evening. If you can stop the pramipexole do it with help of your doctor.

It's not the MEDS that cause depression but that some of the same neural pathways involved with PD are involved with depression. PwP are at high risk for depression, medicated or not. I take a low dose antidepressant as a prophylactic.
