Hello Members. We are fairly new to HU. I am "EElaine" and Husband is Jac.
We have learned much from member's posts and I am especially interested in members who have experimented with taking supplements such as mucuna pruiens and other vitamins. I also hear member's emphasis on the importance of exercise.
My husband, Jac, was DX w/ Parkinson's in 2015. He takes Carbidopa 25 mg & Levodopa 100mg 5 times a day. He plays tennis 3X week and sometimes finds he is taking too much medication. Main complaints: stiffness, sleep problems, constipation, tiredness and light tremor on his right toes along with early stages of poor posture, head sitting forward.
I thought you would be interested in this study if you haven't already reviewed it. It is listed in various places on the web - one site address is: media.ntu.edu.sg/NewsReleas......
I'd like to hear your thoughts on the research findings. Also, I'd like to ask how many of you supplement your meds with mucuna pruiens - and what other supplements help you the most? We're glad there is this great site! Thank you. EElaine

Five times a day is a lot, especially if he was diagnosed in 2015. In my experience, most early PD patients only take levodopa 3-4 times a day and maybe extended release at night if tolerated. Too much medication can cause insomnia. PD cases constipation - it's the first symptom of PD. But too much medication can cause constipation also. Does he see a movement disorder specialist? Go with him to his appointment and express your concerns. Caregivers/partners add another level of information.
Good ideas. We're going to visit the neurologist Monday. I want to introduce the idea of adding mucuna pruiens plus various supplements listed by Silvastrov & others. I fear she won't approve of adding a non-medical approach. Thanks.
Please read the Supplement Research..... that I posted. It is a lecture by a doctor who has scientifically analyzed Mucana P. Marijuana , teas, historical remedies and many other supplements. It is approx. 40 minutes so you might want to watch it in segments . Very informative.
Hi, I have been diagnosed about 3 years ago. Have just started taking coq 10. I do not think my PD is improved but my mind is and I feel better in myself a bit happier.
