Could dopamine be too much? Or is it a wrong Diagnostic PD 5 years ago?
I was diagnosed 5 years ago with PD , started then on levodopa carbidopa (Sinemet) , I am now on 2 tablets 4 times a day. I get Dystonia (I was told) in my feet from time to time ! I ,this week , participated in my local hospital study on 4 days.....1 day an MRI was taken when I had to be OFF medications

Changing Meds to balance motor fluctuation and dyskinesia - Still working on it.
I recently had my annual visit with my neurologist. The main thing I asked him to help me with was to adjust my meds to reduce off times while preventing/reducing dyskinesia. Since I had been on Stalevo he suggested I change to Sinamet with the same strength but without the addition of entacapone that

Symptom Free Essentially
I used to have really bad symptoms. Freezing gait, falling, no balance, could not walk, sleepiness, fatigue. I mean it was bad. I found a way to eliminate 99% of the symptoms by following this drug and exercise method. Once a day in the morning I take Xadago. It is a new MAO inhibiting drug which

Parkinsons detox

What helps reduce Dyskinesia .
We are giving her sinemet , amantadine, Mirapex etc. Over the years we have reduced the amount of sinemet (I think she was overdrugged in the beginning - and we couldn't tell as her tolerance to meds was good ) . Now 1/4 sinemet every 2 hours , to try and follow the less meds at more frequent interval

RLS what works and doesn"t work for me
It's been a while since I've posted here. I am so deeply moved and sympathetic toward all of you who suffer the same disease that I do. After many years of this hellish affliction I can't tell you that I have any kind of cure although some relief by taking vitamin supplements. I was on all kinds of medications

Is rytary the same as madopar CR?
I have just had a terrible weekend due to a hopelessly ill-informed non-specialist GP (substituting for the consultant neurologist at an outpatient appt) telling me to change my 3 hourly 125 madopar to 125 madopar CR (slow release) plus 62.5 capsule. Within 24 hours I had completely lost the plot.

Desperately seeking answers
My husband who is age 38 and up until March this year was a healthy, fit, active, strong man has been suffering from dystonia in his left hand, balance and coordination problems, stammering and struggling to find words. He has had an MRI which was normal so they have ruled out tumour, stroke and MS but

Is it enough to say, "Avoid Proteins"?
Greetings. I'd been wondering how to get the most out of my CD/LD and was curious about which protein-rich foods - chicken or chickpeas? - interfered most with levodopa absorption. It's 3 particular animo acids in protein that are the culprits - branched-chain amino acids (or BCAAs) named leucine

Sinemet/entacapone foot twisting
Hello, I am new to this journey and I have had my meds increased (sinemet) 3.5 pills a day with entacapone. After the third pill of the day my affected side left foot has uncontrollable twisting/movement and muscle cramps, walking gets bad on that side. Is this too much meds or not enough in your experience

Researchers Discover Why L-Dopa Stops Working
Ever wonder why your L-Dopa meds eventually become ineffective at controlling the progression of symptoms? Recent research may shed some light and offer solutions (eventually...). WTF do Doctors think about PWP . Please read what some one posted. It should make you mad as hell just like me. Sorry if I offend any one.
It's been a long wait since the neurologist told my husband that he was 80% sure he had PD and to go away and come back in six months - when I first joined and posted on this forum. That appointment was earlier this week and the neurologist is now 100% certain of his diagnosis. However, he did not put

Autonomic Dysfunction/neuropathy
I have posted on here before about the episodes of overheating I get as my medication wears off ; my hair, face and back are drenched in sweat and my clothes become wringing wet. My consultant and PD nurse dismissed the idea that these episodes were caused by PD or the medication –despite the very obvious

Mucuna
I thought I would try Mucuna capsuls by NOW. I was not feeling good so I thought I would give it a try. I took one about 9 at night for 3 days and I feel better. Slept for a change could it work that fast. I had read a book by Rafael Maldonado called treatment with Natural Levodopa and wonder why

Was this patient's long history of meditation a factor in the remission of his PD?
This morning while browsing through my daily Google alert on news about Parkinson's disease, I came across this reference: "A potential case of remission of Parkinson's disease " That of course grabbed my attention. I clicked on the link and found it referred to a PubMed report on the case
